Research has revealed that retention may not be the best practice for students and that many alternatives are available, yet many schools across the country continue to use this as common practice, including Franklin Elementary School. This project explores the recent history of retention and social promotion. This information will be organized in a manner that will help both administrative and teaching staff at Franklin Elementary school to make educated decisions about the best practice for their students, along with other schools struggling with this as well.
