Book Description
Why is the sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities often deemed “risky” or “inappropriate” by teachers, parents, support staff, medical professionals, judges, and the media? Should sexual citizenship depend on IQ? Confronting such questions head-on, Already Doing It exposes the “sexual ableism” that denies the reality of individuals who, despite the restrictions they face, actively make decisions about their sexual lives. Tracing the history of efforts in the United States to limit the sexual freedoms of such persons⎯using methods such as forced sterilization, invasive birth control, and gender-segregated living arrangements—Michael Gill demonstrates that these widespread practices stemmed from dominant views of disabled sexuality, not least the notion that intellectually disabled women are excessively sexual and fertile while their male counterparts are sexually predatory. Analyzing legal discourses, sex education materials, and news stories going back to the 1970s, he shows, for example, that the intense focus on “stranger danger” in sex education for intellectually disabled individuals disregards their ability to independently choose activities and sexual partners—including nonheterosexual ones, who are frequently treated with heightened suspicion. He also examines ethical issues surrounding masturbation training that aims to regulate individuals’ sexual lives, challenges the perception that those whose sexuality is controlled (or rejected) should not reproduce, and proposes recognition of the right to become parents for adults with intellectual disabilities. A powerfully argued call for sexual and reproductive justice for people with intellectual disabilities, Already Doing It urges a shift away from the compulsion to manage “deviance” (better known today as harm reduction) because the right to pleasure and intellectual disability are not mutually exclusive. In so doing, it represents a vital new contribution to the ongoing debate over who, in the United States, should be allowed to have sex, reproduce, marry, and raise children.

Book Description
What is this key? How and why did I get it, anyway? What is it used for? My story started long before I became a housewife. Since a very young age, I have seen God at work preparing me for "such a time as this." Though I didn't know God until I was twenty-one years old, He knew me from my mother's womb, and He had a plan for my life. Satan had a plan too, but "greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world." I am grateful God came to earth through His Son Jesus Christ to save and call people like me. We are saved by what Jesus did on the cross and not by what we do. Therefore, there is no pressure to perform. Because God shows no favoritism we are also free from jealousy, envy and strife. The good news is that this is for everyone! We are all free to hear His voice! We are all free to obey! He gave all of us the keys of the Kingdom when we got saved. SO WHY THIS ONE KEY?

Book Description
"When Lisa Olivera was just a few hours old, she was abandoned behind a rock near Muir Woods in Northern California. She was found by a man and a woman who were out bird-watching with their toddler. Two days later, she was adopted. Growing up, she knew she was adopted. She later discovered she was abandoned. She often wondered about her birthmother, and why her birthmother abandoned her in the woods. Without any answers, Lisa came up with her own: she was not enough as she was. This story wasn't true, but it made sense of a confusing experience. It allowed her to move forward--it felt like the only way. If you, like Lisa, have ever felt like you weren't lovable, or you didn't belong, or like you weren't enough exactly as you are--you are telling yourself the wrong story"--Publisher marketing.

Book Description
Are you stuck in a rut but don’t have the time, money or energy to get out? It's simpler than you think. By encouraging you to make small, personal decisions, this book will help you stop scrolling through other people’s stories so that you can start focusing on your own. We have choice in every moment of our lives. We can choose to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to an invitation, a job, a partner. We just have to practise cultivating that choice. Change Your Life in an Hour urges you to take back control of how you choose to spend your time – and subsequently your life. Laura Archer first realised the power of small choices when she started reclaiming her lunch breaks and using them to achieve personal goals. In this, her second book, she inspires you to target your mental, emotional, and physical health through simple but empowering actions that can fit around any lifestyle. The book focuses on three centres of activity: Head – Looking at how important good mental health is, and how we can achieve it through guiding our thoughts and the stimulus we input to our minds daily. Heart – As a society that prioritises rationality and empiricism, our hearts sometimes get left behind, as we listen to our heads first. This section focuses on activities to make your heart sing. Hands – We spend our days on computers and smart phones, but as humans we are makers and creators, and using our hands is part of our make-up. This section of the book encourages you to reconnect with the world around you. This book is not restrictive. It is as much about embracing good food, wine and love, as it is about focusing on yoga and meditation. Are you ready to change YOUR life?
