Book Description
This text is well-designed with respect to the exposition from the preliminary to the more advanced and the applications interwoven throughout. It provides the essential foundations for the theory as well as the basic facts relating to almost periodicity. In six structured and self-contained chapters, the author unifies the treatment of various classes of almost periodic functions, while uniquely addressing oscillations and waves in the almost periodic case. This is the first text to present the latest results in almost periodic oscillations and waves. The presentation level and inclusion of several clearly presented proofs make this work ideal for graduate students in engineering and science. The concept of almost periodicity is widely applicable to continuuum mechanics, electromagnetic theory, plasma physics, dynamical systems, and astronomy, which makes the book a useful tool for mathematicians and physicists.

Book Description
This is a unique book that presents rigorous mathematical results on Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattices, a field of great interest in nonlinear analysis, nonlinear science, mathematical physics, etc. It considers travelling waves and time periodic oscillations in infinite Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattices, which are not necessarily spatially homogenous. Similar systems, infinite chains of linearly coupled nonlinear oscillators, are also discussed. The book is self-contained and includes a number of open problems, making it suitable for use in a course for graduate students./a

Book Description
This book discusses almost periodic and almost automorphic solutions to abstract integro-differential Volterra equations that are degenerate in time, and in particular equations whose solutions are governed by (degenerate) solution operator families with removable singularities at zero. It particularly covers abstract fractional equations and inclusions with multivalued linear operators as well as abstract fractional semilinear Cauchy problems.

Book Description
This book, which is a continuation of Almost Automorphic Type and Almost Periodic Type Functions in Abstract Spaces, presents recent trends and developments upon fractional, first, and second order semilinear difference and differential equations, including degenerate ones. Various stability, uniqueness, and existence results are established using various tools from nonlinear functional analysis and operator theory (such as semigroup methods). Various applications to partial differential equations and the dynamic of populations are amply discussed. This self-contained volume is primarily intended for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, post-graduates and researchers, but may also be of interest to non-mathematicians such as physicists and theoretically oriented engineers. It can also be used as a graduate text on evolution equations and difference equations and their applications to partial differential equations and practical problems arising in population dynamics. For completeness, detailed preliminary background on Banach and Hilbert spaces, operator theory, semigroups of operators, and almost periodic functions and their spectral theory are included as well.

Book Description
This volume contains the invited contributions to the Spring 2012 seminar series at Virginia State University on Mathematical Sciences and Applications. It is a thematic continuation of work presented in Volume 24 of the Springer Proceedings in Mathematics & Statistics series. Contributors present their own work as leading researchers to advance their specific fields and induce a genuine interdisciplinary interaction. Thus all articles therein are selective, self-contained, and are pedagogically exposed to foster student interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, stimulate graduate and undergraduate research, as well as collaboration between researchers from different areas. The volume features new advances in mathematical research and its applications: anti-periodicity; almost stochastic difference equations; absolute and conditional stability in delayed equations; gamma-convergence and applications to block copolymer morphology; the dynamics of collision and near-collision in celestial mechanics; almost and pseudo-almost limit cycles; rainbows in spheres and connections to ray, wave and potential scattering theory; null-controllability of the heat equation with constraints; optimal control for systems subjected to null-controllability; the Galerkin method for heat transfer in closed channels; wavelet transforms for real-time noise cancellation; signal, image processing and machine learning in medicine and biology; methodology for research on durability, reliability, damage tolerance of aerospace materials and structures at NASA Langley Research Center. The volume is suitable and valuable for mathematicians, scientists and research students in a variety of interdisciplinary fields, namely physical and life sciences, engineering and technology including structures and materials sciences, computer science for signal, image processing and machine learning in medicine.

Book Description
Structural Methods in the Study of Complex Systems helps the reader respond to the challenge of mastering complexity in systems and control. The book details the fundamental control problems arising from complex dynamical systems and shows how they can be tackled effectively by means of methods developed from graph theory, differential algebra and geometric approaches. These “structural methods” produce abstractions that fit a wide variety of applications by taking advantage of their intrinsic focus on the essential characteristics of dynamical systems, their geometric perspective and visual representation, and their algebraic formalization and ability to generate algorithmic frameworks to complement the theoretical treatment. The original work and latest achievements of the contributors, expanding on material presented at a workshop organized to coincide with the 2018 European Control Conference will assist systems and control scientists interested in developing theoretical and computational tools to solve analysis and synthesis problems involving complex dynamical systems. The contributions provide a comprehensive picture of available results along with a stimulating view of possible directions for future investigations in the field. Emphasis is placed on methods with solid computational background and on specific engineering applications so that readers from both theoretical and practical backgrounds will find this collection of use.

Book Description
Features new results and up-to-date advances in modeling and solving differential equations Introducing the various classes of functional differential equations, Functional Differential Equations: Advances and Applications presents the needed tools and topics to study the various classes of functional differential equations and is primarily concerned with the existence, uniqueness, and estimates of solutions to specific problems. The book focuses on the general theory of functional differential equations, provides the requisite mathematical background, and details the qualitative behavior of solutions to functional differential equations. The book addresses problems of stability, particularly for ordinary differential equations in which the theory can provide models for other classes of functional differential equations, and the stability of solutions is useful for the application of results within various fields of science, engineering, and economics. Functional Differential Equations: Advances and Applications also features: • Discussions on the classes of equations that cannot be solved to the highest order derivative, and in turn, addresses existence results and behavior types • Oscillatory motion and solutions that occur in many real-world phenomena as well as in man-made machines • Numerous examples and applications with a specific focus on ordinary differential equations and functional differential equations with finite delay • An appendix that introduces generalized Fourier series and Fourier analysis after periodicity and almost periodicity • An extensive Bibliography with over 550 references that connects the presented concepts to further topical exploration Functional Differential Equations: Advances and Applications is an ideal reference for academics and practitioners in applied mathematics, engineering, economics, and physics. The book is also an appropriate textbook for graduate- and PhD-level courses in applied mathematics, differential and difference equations, differential analysis, and dynamics processes. Book Description
The book is concerned with the concepts of chaos and fractals, which are within the scopes of dynamical systems, geometry, measure theory, topology, and numerical analysis during the last several decades. It is revealed that a special kind of Poisson stable point, which we call an unpredictable point, gives rise to the existence of chaos in the quasi-minimal set. This is the first time in the literature that the description of chaos is initiated from a single motion. Chaos is now placed on the line of oscillations, and therefore, it is a subject of study in the framework of the theories of dynamical systems and differential equations, as in this book. The techniques introduced in the book make it possible to develop continuous and discrete dynamics which admit fractals as points of trajectories as well as orbits themselves. To provide strong arguments for the genericity of chaos in the real and abstract universe, the concept of abstract similarity is suggested.
