Simultaneous Cabin and Ambient Ozone Measurements on Two Boeing 747 Airplanes
Author: Porter J. Perkins
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 812
Book Description
Measurements of ozone concentrations both outside and in the cabin of an airline operated Boeing 747SP and Boeing 747-100 airliner are presented. Plotted data and the corresponding tables of observations taken at altitude between the departure and destination airports of each flight are arranged chronologically for the two aircraft. Data were taken at five or ten minute intervals by automated instrumentation used in the NASA Global Atmospheric Sampling Program (GASP). All ozone data obtained in the cabin from March through December 1977 are presented. (Author).

The Airliner Cabin Environment
Author: National Research Council
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309036909
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 320
Book Description
Each year Americans take more than 300 million plane trips staffed by a total of some 70,000 flight attendants. The health and safety of these individuals are the focus of this volume from the Committee on Airliner Cabin Air Quality. The book examines such topics as cabin air quality, the health effects of reduced pressure and cosmic radiation, emergency procedures, regulations established by U.S. and foreign agencies, records on airline maintenance and operation procedures, and medical statistics on air travel. Numerous recommendations are presented, including a ban on smoking on all domestic commercial flights to lessen discomfort to passengers and crew, to eliminate the possibility of fire caused by cigarettes, and to bring the cabin air quality into line with established standards for other closed environments.
