This collection of 23 essays offers valuable insights into the pressing population challenges faced by both Indonesia and Korea, refl ecting the collaborative efforts of scholars and experts dedicated to shaping a better future. Social scientists, in particular, can study population issues in Indonesia and Korea by examining various demographic factors such as birth rates, migration patterns, and aging populations. Research in Korea may concentrate on issues associated with an aging population and declining birth rates, whereas research in Indonesia may concentrate on urbanization and regional disparities. By contrasting these cases, we can gain understanding of how cultural and policy issues infl uence population patterns and the wider effects they have on society. This book is an important outcome of the cooperation between the Korea Foundation and FISIP UI. Following the NFL's desegregation in 1946, opportunities became increasingly plentiful for African American players--but not African American coaches. Although Major League Baseball and the NBA made progress in this regard over the years, the NFL's head coaches were almost exclusively white up until the mid-1990s. Advancing the Ball chronicles the campaign of former Cleveland Browns offensive lineman John Wooten to right this wrong and undo decades of discriminatory head coach hiring practices--an initiative that finally bore fruit when he joined forces with attorneys Cyrus Mehri and Johnnie Cochran. Internal conflicts, dictatorship, and economic disintegration characterized the first twenty-five years of Uganda’s independence from British colonial rule, which culminated in the reign of Idi Amin and a violent civil war. The country has since achieved an astounding turnaround of stability and growth. British Columbia, and her own research, Dawn Mills paints a compelling picture of the Gitxsan and their right to land and self-government. While the book focuses on the judgments rendered in the Gitxsan’s struggle in the Supreme Court and an analysis of the judgments and strategies utilized, Mills also details the Gitxsan relationship to the land and their community. Contrary to the position taken by many legal scholars, Mills argues that the trial judgment in the Delgam’Uukw decision opened up new opportunities for First Nations people to present evidence based on oral traditions that had not been previously accepted by the courts.
