Effectiveness of Adaptability Screening
Author: Nancy Guinn

Pages : 2
Book Description
A total of 12,599 basic airmen on whom aptitudinal, biographical, and History Opinion Inventory (HOI) data were collected comprised the sample population. Using the successful completion of first-term of military service as the criterion, regression analyses were accomplished to determine the effectiveness of various experimental predictor composites. Efforts were made to develop the most economical composite from the standpoint of number of data items required while retaining the maximum amount of predictive accuracy. Multiple correlations of the two composites developed from these analyses were . 43 and .49. Cross-application analyses resulted in multiple correlations of .43 and .47. The effectiveness of the composites were compared to the screening effectiveness of the 1972 and 1975 standards for enlistment. Problems related to the implementation of such a screening procedure were discussed. (Author).

Adaptability Screening of Flying Personnel

Book Description
As a part of a continuing project to develop methods and devices for the adaptability screening of military aircrew personnel, this study examined the relationships of 41 experimental variables, derived from five psychological tests, with appropriate specific and pooled criteria in separate samples of Air Force aviation cadets. The tests, which were administered individually, involved habit interference in printing symbols, mirror vision drawing, color naming, and different aspects of complex perceptual-motor behavior. The findings indicated that the Controls Orientation Test (CP 638A), an apparatus designed to elicit "controls confusion," warrants further investigation as a potentially useful device for adaptability screening.

Book Description
A sample of 15,252 basic airmen were administered the history opinion inventory (HOI) during basic military training. The service careers of these subjects were monitored for two years in order to assess the ability of the HOI to predict the criterion of in/out of service. An a priori adaptation index developed from HOI items correctly identified as high risk 23 percent of those subjects discharged from service during the two year period, while incorrectly labeling as high risk only 6 percent of those subjects still in service after two years. The possibility of increasing the accuracy of prediction by utilizing biographic/demographic data and the operational usefulness of the HOI are discussed.

Modification of the Computer Adaptive Screening Test (CAST) for Use by Recruiters in All Military Services
Author:
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 148
Book Description
The Computerized Adaptive Screening Test (CAST) was designed to predict performance on the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT). It includes two subtests: Word Knowledge (WK) and Arithmetic Reasoning (AR). CAST has been used by Army recruiters since the early 1980's to prescreen enlistment prospects. The Joint Recruiting Information Support Systems Program Management Office (JRISS PMO) program requested modifications to CAST to make it suitable for use by recruiters in all of the U.S. military services. This report documents the development of CAST, Version 5.
