Introduction : La non pratique d'activité physique est un phénomène exponentiel avec l'avancée en âge. Depuis Mars 2020, 3 confinements nationaux français dont un “strict” se sont succédés, limitant certaines activités de la population. Nous nous sommes intéressés aux motivations des aînés de 75 ans et plus à pratiquer une activité physique lors des périodes de confinement et entre ces périodes, en Normandie, en 2020 et 2021. Méthode : Nous avons réalisé une étude prospective qualitative par entretiens individuels semi-dirigés. Les critères d'inclusion étaient : âge > 75 ans, résidant à son domicile propre ou en résidence sénior ou autonomie. La période d'inclusion s'est déroulée de février à juin 2021. Un guide d'entretien a été créé. Les thèmes portaient sur la pratique d'activité physique avant et au cours de l'épidémie de SARS-Cov 2. La grille d'analyse reposait sur la théorie de l'autodétermination de Ryan et Deci. Résultats : Vingt et un entretiens ont été réalisés (âge moyen = 81,5 (+- 3,6) ans). Les motivations à pratiquer une activité physique avant l'épidémie de SARS-Cov 2 étaient essentiellement auto-déterminées, basées sur le plaisir, le caractère identitaire de l'activité physique, la liberté et le plaisir d'être avec les autres. Lors du premier confinement national, la restriction quasi totale de déplacement en dehors du domicile s'est traduite par un arrêt de la quasi-totalité des activités sportives habituellement exercées à l'extérieur. Le plaisir de pratiquer une activité physique a pu se reporter sur des activités au sein du domicile. Lors du premier déconfinement, le plaisir, la découverte, le plaisir d'être avec les autres et - de façon plus nouvelle - l'expérience du dehors et de la nature semblent avoir été les motivations principales à la reprise des activités. Concernant les 2ème et 3ème confinements, les souvenirs semblent plus flous. Les motivations qui les avaient poussés à pratiquer une activité physique sont principalement des motivations extrinsèques. Conclusion : Les motivations des aînés de 75 ans et plus à avoir une activité physique ont varié au cours de l'épidémie de SARS-Cov 2. Les motivations intrinsèques, liées au plaisir et qui sont les plus mobilisatrices, semblent avoir été remplacées en partie par des motivations extrinsèques auto-déterminées.
