Web technology is ubiquitous in modern life, enabling various forms of communication in real time between the users and computers, as well as between network devices, by means of artificial (markup) languages and cascading style sheets (CSS). El grupo de Terminología Española (TermEsp) ha venido realizando desde 1982 una serie de trabajos sobre terminología multilingüe. Entre ellos cabe destacar la versión española de más de 40.000 términos en inglés, francés y alemán, contenidos en el Banco de Datos Terminológicos EURODICAUTOM de la UE. También se han realizado trabajos basados en el estudio de los términos que aparecen en revistas científicas y técnicas, donde se puede obtener información continua y actualizada sobre los nuevos conceptos que van surgiendo en el ámbito de la ciencia y de la tecnología y sobre los vocablos que se utilizan para definirlos en los distintos países. Tomando como base las colecciones de términos obtenidas en estos trabajos y estudios se han publicado diversos glosarios especializados, entre ellos el presente glosario multilingüe sobre máquinas herramienta, cuyo contenido se ha revisado y ampliado. Los términos del glosario están ordenados de forma alfabética en español, figurando a continuación los términos equivalentes en alemán (DE), inglés (EN) y francés (FR). Además algunos términos van acompañados de una nota aclaratoria o explicativa que precisa el significado del término dentro del ámbito en que se aplica o añade algún detalle de interés. Al final del glosario se encuentra el índice permutado y los índices alfabéticos en alemán, inglés y francés que remiten al término español. Esperamos que esta nueva edición sirva de ayuda a todos los interesados en la armonización de términos técnicos en distintas lenguas.
