The Ramayana is one of the largest ancient epics in world literature. It was written in Sanskrit in ancient India by Sage Valmiki describing a war that had taken place between a prince called Rama and a king known as Ravana in ancient Sri Lanka. The Indians consider it as a major source of their history, although the historicity of this battle remains obscure. Despite the lack of other evidence, the astronomical and historical information available in the epic can be eminently validated. These references belong to a period between -5351 CE and -5300 CE. This book discusses such astronomical and historical references, which include the birth particulars of Rama, eclipses and planetary positions. Information was verifiable with the sidereal zodiac. Out of the many Ayanamshas known, only Kjwhal Khul Ayanamsha was compatible with the astronomical references.
