Book Description
Currently, U.S. community colleges serve nearly half of all students of color in higher education who, for a multitude of reasons, do not continue their education by transferring to a university. For those students who do transfer, often the responsibility for the application process, retention, graduation, and overall success is placed on them rather than their respective institutions. This book aims to provide direction toward the development and maintenance of a transfer receptive culture, which is defined as an institutional commitment by a university to support transfer students of color. A transfer receptive culture explicitly acknowledges the roles of race and racism in the vertical transfer process from a community college to a university and unapologetically centers transfer as a form of equity in the higher education pipeline. The framework is guided by critical race theory in education, which acknowledges the role of white supremacy and its contemporary and historical role in shaping institutions of higher learning.

This handbook provides essential information relating to the transfer of assets or entire business units in thirty-two of the most important jurisdictions in the world. Each chapter is dedicated to a separate jurisdiction, and discusses, among other practical topics of interest, form requirements, registration obligations, regulatory compliance, real property, intellectual property, taxes, insolvency law, costs and timing issues as well as the transfer of employees. The purpose of this book is to create a better understanding of the legal and practical concerns associated with asset transfers in the relevant jurisdictions. Through it the reader will be able to identify potential legal issues, assess whether or not local advisors have to be consulted and make informed judgments about timing and costs associated with a prospective transaction. This compendium should serve as a useful guide for all professionals involved in international M&A transactions, including lawyers, investment bankers, tax advisors and other consultants. Tylers Pain is the true story of racismhow, even though we have come a long way in this world, it is still a current and relevant problem. Janette Rushers daughter, Tyler is now eighteen years old. When she was ten, she had to endure the taunts of children who insulted her because she was blackdifferent from them. They had been taught that it was acceptable to treat others who are different in a disparaging manner. It is hard to imagine that a child of ten might be considering her own death in order to avoid the daily pain of being targeted just for being a different race. Tylers Pain is the story of a mothers journey guiding her daughter through such events to insure that she survived. She wanted her daughter to understand that the world is good and that the actions of a few ignorant people should not change a happy life. Above all, Rusher wanted her to know how important it is to must stand tall and always fight for what you believe in. Tylers Pain does not favor one race or another. The message that resonates through it is that, through patience, love, and faith, it is possible to make a difference in the life and perceptions of a child.

Book Description
Its a cast of characters that sounds too outrageous to be true: school administrators who disrupt the education of students to pursue pet programs, a superintendent who spends taxpayer dollars to upgrade a private bathroom, and principals that cheat on state testing scores. JT Victor witnessed all that and more when he was a teacher in inner-city public schools, and he shares it all in this candid account that reveals the shortcomings of a system where most of the problems are caused by adultsnot students. However, colleges continue to prep future teachers on engaging students and maintaining order in the classroom. Meanwhile, nothing is being done about the people in charge who dont have the best interests of students at heart. Penny-pinching politicians, disinterested parents, and school administrators pretending to be leaders make it nearly impossible for battle-weary teachers to do their jobs. Despite it all, most teachers continue to succeed and students continue to learn. It all might seem amusing if it didnt involve our children and tax dollars, which is why you need to know whats going on so it doesnt happen at your school.
