Book Description
"The study of flow properties of many substances is of prime importance in varied industries. The ceramic industry is mainly concerned with these measurements on a relatively stiff ceramic body, i.e., one which contains only enough water to retain its shape after the deforming force is relieved. Various types of instruments have been devised to measure flow properties in the so-called "true plastic range." Since the primary measurements were made on instruments of the transpiration type to devise the laws of viscous and plastic flow, it was felt that an instrument employing the flow of the plastic material through an orifice under pressure should be employed. It would be of interest to correlate some of the physical properties of the materials used to the flow data obtained. This would serve as a measure of control and would also be of academic interest"--Purpose of study, leaf 9

Clays in the Minerals Processing Value Chain
Author: Markus Gräfe
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781108298131
Category : Clay
Languages : en
Pages : 450
Book Description
Clays are increasingly becoming a major problem in the mining, extraction and value-adding processes for a wide range of commodity raw materials. Clays can impact negatively on virtually every unit process within the mining and minerals processing sector, having long-term environmental implications that go well beyond the lifetime of the mining operation. This book is the first to compile, explain and evaluate the effects of clays in the mineral processing value chain, from mining to minerals processing, and finally, tailings disposal. Focusing on topics from the chemistry and rheology of clays to their detection and dissolution behaviour, this book provides comprehensive coverage of the effects on processes such as settling, preg-robing, flotation and comminution. It is an excellent reference for professional mineralogists and geologists, industrial engineers, and researchers interested in clays and clay minerals.

Hyperconcentrated Flow
Author: Zhaohui Wan
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000150380
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 390
Book Description
Considers hyperconcentrated flow, a phenomenon peculiar to the Yellow River Basin. The feasibility of using the potential for sediment carrying by hyperconcentrated flow can also be applied to topics such as hypertransport, debris flow and sediment releases from reservoirs.
