A Computerized Approach to Finding the Minimum Sample Size for Single Sample Attribute Sampling Plans
Author: Lancelot G. Sylvester
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Sampling (Statistics)
Languages : en
Pages : 148
Book Description
Much has been written concerning the determination of a single sampling plan given two points on the operating characteristic (OC) curve. A computer program is presented which will provide minimum sample size for single sample attribute sampling plans. The program provides sampling plans based on the binomial distribution. It incorporates the Fibonacci search technique for discrete valued functions. The search is conducted over an interval, for the variable representing the acceptance number, known to contain the optimal solution. For each point evaluated within this interval, a Fibonacci search is used to determine the least value of the sample size. It is shown how an initial feasible solution could provide the values needed to establish the search intervals. An algorithm already developed to produce integral solutions is used to determine the initial feasible solution. The algorithm developed in this paper is tested to determine its performance. The testing is to illustrate the accuracy of the proposed method. Use of the program also highlights accuracy problems existing with the previous minimum sample size method. Exact solutions are also determined through exhaustive searches for this purpose. A proof of optimality based on the Poisson approximation to the binomial is offered.

Sampling Inspection Tables
Author: Harold F. Dodge
Publisher: Wiley-Interscience
ISBN: 9780471255499
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
The sampling inspection tables presented in this book were developed for use in the manufacture of communication apparatus and equipment for the Bell Telephone System. It assembles under one cover the three papers of original publication and adds a brief introduction. The papers have been reproduced with no modifications but the material has been rearranged in chapters. Chapter 1 outlines some of the factors to be considered in setting up inspection plans and develops a basis for minimizing the amount of inspection. Chapter 2 covers double sampling, the "average outgoing quality limit" (AOQL) concept, and the mathematical background of the tables. Chapter 3 is a reproduction by permission, which outlines the shop procedures for applying the tables.

Practical Acceptance Sampling
Author: Galit Shmueli
Publisher: Axelrod Schnall Publishers
ISBN: 0991576675
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 106
Book Description
New to the second edition: A section on Acceptance-on-Zero plans, additional screenshots from the newly-designed SQCOnline.com with several new calculators, and improved book design for enhanced readability. Practical Acceptance Sampling is a hands-on introduction to the inspection of products and services for quality assurance using statistically-based sampling plans. In today’s era of global supply chains, the path from raw materials to final product often takes place over multiple companies and across multiple continents. Acceptance sampling is key in the 21st century environment. Acceptance sampling plans provide criteria and decision rules for determining whether to accept or reject a batch based on a sample. They are therefore widely used by manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors, and service providers in a wide range of industries. The book introduces readers to the most popular sampling plans, including Military Standards and civilian ISO and ANSI/ASQC/BS standards. It covers the design, choice and performance evaluation of different types of plans, including single- and double-stage plans, rectifying and non-rectifying plans, plans for pass/fail and continuous measurements, continuous sampling plans, and more. Practical Acceptance Sampling is suitable for courses on quality control and for quality practitioners with basic knowledge of statistics. It offers clear explanations, examples, end-of-chapter problems, and illustrations of state-of-the-art online resources. Methods are illustrated using Microsoft Excel, online calculators, and SQCOnline.com. However, any statistical software can be used with the book. A companion website to the book is available at www.SamplingBook.com

Zero Acceptance Number Sampling Plans
Author: Nicholas L. Squeglia
Publisher: Quality Press
ISBN: 1636940951
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 58
Book Description
A crucial element of quality control is inspection, but attempting to inspect every product can be impractical. This book covers both the statistical and practical approaches for selecting a particular sampling plan from the c=0 table. Using the plans found in this book can help ensure that you meet your zero defects objectives while saving your company time and money. Zero Acceptance Number Sampling Plans was originally developed to provide equal or greater consumer protection with less inspection than the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) military standard 105 (MIL-STD-105E). This book offers a set of plans for lot-by-lot inspection with the acceptance number in all cases as zero. Although the DoD canceled MIL-STD-105, the c=0 sampling plans have stood the test of time. After years of extensive application by aerospace, defense, medical device, commercial manufacturing, and service industries, these plans are still used today as a standard for many organizations to deliver quality products. This sixth edition includes only the original c=0 table as published in the fourth and all previous editions and eliminates conflicting information in the fifth edition tables.
