Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 104
Book Description
TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 700: A Comparison of AASHTO Bridge Load Rating Methods documents an analysis of 1,500 bridges that represent various material types and configurations using AASHTOWareTM Virtis® to compare the load factor rating to load and resistance factor rating for both moment and shear induced by design vehicles, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) legal loads, and eight additional permit/legal vehicles.

Protocols for Collecting and Using Traffic Data in Bridge Design
Author: Bala Sivakumar
Publisher: Transportation Research Board
ISBN: 0309155479
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 125
Book Description
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 683: Protocols for Collecting and Using Traffic Data in Bridge Design explores a set of protocols and methodologies for using available recent truck traffic data to develop and calibrate vehicular loads for superstructure design, fatigue design, deck design, and design for overload permits. The protocols are geared to address the collection, processing, and use of national weigh-in-motion (WIM) data. The report also gives practical examples of implementing these protocols with recent national WIM data drawn from states/sites around the country with different traffic exposures, load spectra, and truck configurations. The material in this report will be of immediate interest to bridge engineers. This report replaces NCHRP Web-Only Document 135: Protocols for Collecting and Using Traffic Data in Bridge Design. Appendices A through F for NCHRP Report 683 are available only online.

Safety-based Bridge-overstress Criteria for Nondivisible Loads
Author: Gongkang Fu
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Bridges
Languages : en
Pages : 52
Book Description
Most states face increasing pressure to issue more permits for heavier overweight trucks, and currently use the AASHTO rating concept (with or without an overstress criterion) in checking these loads. That bridge-rating procedure, however, is intended to cover only normal traffic, and the basis for these overstress criteria involved is not well documented. This report discusses current New York State practice for checking overweight permits. A new permit-issuance procedure for checking overloads is then proposed for both annual and trip permits for nondivisible loads, based on principles of uniform bridge safety. This procedure may be included in bridge-evaluation specifications.
