Not illustrated. 1907 edition. Excerpt: ... on the summit. One day during this breathing spell, the Aztec Emperor left his palanquin when he had bade its carriers put it down, and entered a cavern that was in the side of the hill. On this same site formerly stood what was known as "the new palace" of Moctezuma, and later when this was destroyed, Cortez built in its place a house flanked with towers. This house was occupied by the Viceroys until 1692 when it was destroyed by the great...
