Book Description
From the author of the acclaimed Roll with It comes a moving novel about a girl with a sensory processing disorder who has to find her own voice after her whole world turns upside down. Lou Montgomery has the voice of an angel, or so her mother tells her and anyone else who will listen. But Lou can only hear the fear in her own voice. She’s never liked crowds or loud noises or even high fives; in fact, she’s terrified of them, which makes her pretty sure there’s something wrong with her. When Lou crashes their pickup on a dark and snowy road, child services separate the mother-daughter duo. Now she has to start all over again at a fancy private school far away from anything she’s ever known. With help from an outgoing new friend, her aunt and uncle, and the school counselor, she begins to see things differently. A sensory processing disorder isn’t something to be ashamed of, and music might just be the thing that saves Lou—and maybe her mom, too.

Book Description
Emily Saunders, an eighty-five-year-old widow of means, lives in an affluent suburb of Brisbane and has everything she needs, but she is lonely. Her family does not have the time to check on her because of their busy lives. She phones her friend Audrey Thomas, also a widow, and asks her to accompany her on a cruise, and she is delighted. They had been through high school together and are still the best of friends. During the cruise, there is a talent quest; and as Audrey, also eighty-five, always wanted to be a singer, she entered and won the first and second contests, then was requested by the audience to do concerts, which were well-attended on the ship. On the cruise, they stopped at a small island that was very little, and the two ladies went to visit the school, which had very little tools, books, and things needed to run any school. Audrey and Emily decided to start a charity for the school. It was doing really well, and some big company names generously gave their products just for a mention in their advertisement. The women did well and soon outfitted the school from the donations received. After their second cruise, requested by the company for Audrey to do more concerts on board, they delivered all the goods, and the children did a concert on the ship for thanks and built up a good rapport with the passengers who all wanted to help this poor island school and joined the charity. They arrived back in Brisbane to the television news showing that a huge cyclone had washed away the homes of the children of the Vitu School and all the terrible devastation. Many families living in the school and hospital on the hill are the only buildings standing fully intact. The cruise ships couldnt go in for the debris everywhere, so there was no income from the islanders wares. It was full steam ahead with the charity. Audreys two sons came and voluntarily managed the funds coming in through the charity. Audrey does a huge concert in Brisbane with other supporting acts in a stadium for seventy-five thousand people and kept the charity money building. There were fifty-six tradesmen of all persuasions who went voluntarily and did an amazing job, all being filmed to show the people where their hard-earned donations had been used for. From this, Audrey, who has dreamed of having her own concert all her life, made DVDs and CDs that sold out and won awards. They both got humanitarian awards and, after a full-on three years, decided to slow down and take it easy. This is a wonderful story of love, friendship, family, and human kindness and proves that age is just a number.

Book Description
For fans of The Light Between Oceans, this “exquisitely written, true book of wonders” (Geraldine Brooks, Pulitzer Prize-winning author) explores the aftermath of World War II in an Australian seaside town, and the mysterious poem that changes the lives of those who encounter it. In 1948, in a town overlooking the vast, blue ocean, Anikka Lachlan has all she ever wanted—until a random act transforms her into another postwar widow, destined to raise her daughter on her own. Awash in grief, she looks for answers in the pages of her favorite books and tries to learn the most difficult lesson of all: how to go on living. A local poet, Roy McKinnon, experiences a different type of loss. How could his most powerful work come out of the brutal chaos of war, and why is he now struggling to regain his words and his purpose in peacetime? His childhood friend Dr. Frank Draper also seeks to reclaim his pre-war life but is haunted by his failure to help those who needed him most—the survivors of the Nazi concentration camps. Then one day, on the mantle of her sitting room, Ani finds a poem. She knows neither where it came from, nor who its author is. But she has her suspicions. An unexpected and poignant love triangle emerges, between Ani, the poem, and the poet—whoever he may be. Written in clear, shining prose, The Railwayman’s Wife explores the power of beginnings and endings—and how difficult it can be to tell them apart. It is an exploration of life, loss, tragedy, and joy, of connection and separation, longing and acceptance, and an unadulterated celebration of love that “will have you feeling every emotion at once” (Bustle).

Book Description
INSTANT USA TODAY BESTSELLER Spencer Quinn's It's a Wonderful Woof presents a holiday adventure for Chet the dog, “the most lovable narrator in crime fiction” (Boston Globe), and his human partner, PI Bernie Little. Holiday time in the Valley, and in the holiday spirit—despite the dismal shape of the finances at the Little Detective Agency—Bernie refers a potential client to Victor Klovsky, a fellow private eye. It’s also true that the case—promising lots of online research but little action—doesn’t appeal to Bernie, while it seems perfect for Victor, who is not cut out for rough stuff. But Victor disappears in a rough-stuff way, and when he doesn’t show up at his mom’s to light the Hanukkah candles, she hires Chet and Bernie to find him. They soon discover that Victor’s client has also vanished. The trail leads to the ruins of a mission called Nuestra Señora de los Saguaros, dating back to the earliest Spanish explorers. Some very dangerous people are interested in the old mission. Does some dusty archive hold the secret of a previously unknown art treasure, possibly buried for centuries? What does the Flight into Egypt—when Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus fled Herod—have to do with saguaros, the Sonoran desert cactus? No one is better than Chet at nosing out buried secrets, but before he can, he and Bernie are forced to take flight themselves, chased through a Christmas Eve blizzard by a murderous foe who loves art all too much.
