Book Description
'Art? What has art ever done for us as a family?' In the First World War, artist-soldier Joseph Gray drew and painted scenes of battle, his illustrations appearing in the popular press and his canvases sold to museums. But after struggling through the next decade and facing the threat of another war, Joseph had found a secret new calling: the art of camouflage. As he went from representing reality to disguising it, Joseph’s growing interest in camouflage concealed another, deeper subterfuge. He was leading a double life, and would eventually leave his family for the woman that he loved. Joseph Gray’s Camouflage is a multi-layered story of art, war, love and deception. Beyond attempting to pin down the image of a man who eludes us at every turn, it also traces the development of camouflage between the two wars and shines a light on the unlikely band of artists who made it happen. Though private letters, diaries, archives and interviews Joseph's great-granddaughter Mary Horlock pieces together the truth that was once lost, and brings his far-from-ordinary life back into focus.

Book Description
Pure Evil can remain hidden and unseen - a Dash of Red is the account of a seemingly normal man living in Brooklyn, New York who is anything but normal. As he goes about his daily activities we learn that he refers to himself as the Gray Man and values his ability to blend into a crowd and go unnoticed. He also hints that this trait has allowed him to escape justice in the past. He wanders into a midtown bar and finds that he is not as invisible as he had thought as he becomes part of an after-work crowd in 1990's New York City. Here he gets involved with Violetta, the most beautiful woman in this little clique. Although he now has a sexual relationship with this desirable woman, he fantasizes about Michelle, the bar's druggie waitress whom he is convinced is flirting with him and slyly suggesting her desire for rough sex. He is furthermore convinced that Violetta is a witch and begins his studies on witchcraft. Along the way his horrendous appetites are sated as he participates in every manner of evil. We are introduced to members of the bar crowd, among them is a fellow with a filthy mouth, several potheads, a dismissive bartender, and a charismatic fellow that they refer to as the Capo. In short time one of the group is found bludgeoned to death and suspicion is cast upon the bar's patrons. Meanwhile Michelle's drug problems worsen and she enters rehab. Once she returns John has wonderful plans for his future with Michelle and is more convinced than ever that she is flirting with him. He will settle down with the girl of his dreams and abandon his old habits. No longer will he kill, mutilate, cannibalize and the like. First though, he wants one final adventure – one last feast of killing where he can destroy three lives before riding off into the sunset with his darling Michelle. This offbeat urban story questions how well do we really know our casual acquaintances and will appeal to readers of, horror, black humor, crime and suspense.

Star Signs Includes Numerology & Chinese Astrology
Author: Bejan Daruwala
Publisher: Jaico Publishing House
ISBN: 8172240821
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 186
Book Description
NEW ENLARGED EDITION Finally a book, India and the world, has been looking forward to, from the pen of Bejan Daruwalla, one of the greatest astrologers and psychics of our times. Special features of this book are: sun-signs in depth, numerology for everyone of you, a terrific piece blending Chinese and Western astrology, something about the history, lore and use of gems, and an article on gifts for all the 12 signs. Here, in short, is God’s plenty. Daruwalla is a strong devotee of Lord Ganesha (the elephant-headed God who is known to remove obstacles and sorrows.) Amongst his predictions, the noteworthy ones were the release of Nelson Mandela and the fall of Margaret Thatcher which appeared in the magazine “Eve’s Weekly”, January 20, 1990. Widely travelled, Bejan Daruwalla was invited by three Radio Stations and WBN’s channel 10, Columbus, Ohio for his talks. He was also interviewed in the American Dailies during his stay there. Another distinction, he was invited by the prestigious Edgar Cayce Foundation, Virginia Beach for a series of lectures and needless to mention that the Indian newspapers and T.V. stations in Washington did him proud - and the Indians certainly know their astrologers! A unique honour for Bejan Daruwalla where America is his home away from home. The star astrologer is already on another book.
