Purpose: This correlation study determined the relationship between the level of servant-leadership practices of department chairs perceived by their foreign language teachers and the level of those same teachers' job satisfaction within the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) in Monterey, CA. Methodology: The study employed a quantitative method using descriptive and inferential statistical tests to answer the research questions. The sample population included 165 foreign language classroom teachers within the undergraduate basic language training at the DLIFLC. The data were collected through the Servant Leadership Questionnaire (Barbuto and Wheeler, 2006) and the Teacher Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (Lester, 1982). The bi-variate correlations, using a two-tailed Pearson test of correlation coefficients, were computed to assess the degree of relationship. Findings: although all aspects of servant leadership are important to teacher job satisfaction, the degree to which department chairs practice servant leadership skills does not relate identically to all factors of teacher job satisfaction. Teachers demonstrated that the most satisfying factor was the opportunity to be accountable for their own work and the opportunity to take part in policy and decision-making activities. Conclusions: The results of the study demonstrate the benefits of applying the servant leadership model to teachers' job satisfaction. Teachers need first to experience the feeling of being satisfied with their jobs in order to fully contribute to the overall well-being of the DLIFLC. Building a strong culture and practice of servant leadership at all levels would help the Institute to prosper. Recommendations: Provide continuing professional growth opportunities in the area of servant leadership with a focus on active listening, reflection and empathy. Conduct a study that compares servant leadership with other leadership styles to determine which leadership style teachers respond to with a higher degree of satisfaction. Some future studies should look at leadership correlated to teacher productivity and/or student results.

This study was designed to examine the relationship between employees' perceptions of servant leadership characteristics in their organizations and their level of personal job satisfaction. The perception of servant leadership was measured using the Organizational Leadership Assessment (OLA) developed by Dr. James Laub. This study measured job satisfaction on two levels: overall job satisfaction and intrinsic job satisfaction. The Mohrman-Cooke-Mohrman Job Satisfaction Scale (MCMJSS) was used to measure overall job satisfaction, and sections from both tools were combined to measure intrinsic job satisfaction. The participants' responses were further examined against demographic variables of gender, education level, age, level in the organization, and employment sector. Twelve organizations from both public and private sectors participated in this study. The study results indicated a significant relationship between perceptions of servant leadership and overall and intrinsic job satisfaction.

The purpose of this study is to examine the perceived leadership styles of school principal at LinXia Foreign Language School in GanSu Provice of China and the relationship between leadership styles and teacher job satisfaction. This study is a quantitative study that utilized existing instruments to measure perceived leadership styles called the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (Bass and Avolio, 1994) and the Teacher Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (Lester, 1984). A quantitative questionnaire using Likert-type scales was administered to 73 teachers in LinXia Foreign Language School, of whom 70 responded. The result of this study revealed that teachers of LinXia Foreign Language School were moderately satisfied with their job in school and the principal exhibited both transformational and transactional leadership styles. The result also shows that there is positive correlation between both transformational and transactional leadership styles and teacher job satisfaction. Thus, the school principal was more exhibited the transformational leadership style.

Research has begun to recognize the importance of leadership in developing strategies geared towards improving job satisfaction and employee performance while at the same time reducing turnover intention. The purpose of this quantitative correlational-predictive study was to explore servant leadership principles and its relationship with job satisfaction, job performance and employee turnover intention. Specifically, the researcher sought to understand: 1) whether there was a relationship between employee’s ratings of their manager’s servant leadership style and employee job satisfaction, employee job performance and employee turnover intention, and 2) determine if, and to what extent the specific dimensions of Van Dierendonck and Nuijten’s (2017) 18-item servant leadership instrument predict employee intrinsic, extrinsic, and overall job satisfaction. In an effort to enhance student achievement in reading, many high schools have integrated instructional literacy coaches into the teaching staff to provide support for the English teachers. The purpose of this quantitative, correlational study was to explore the relationship between the self-reported servant leadership practices used by instructional literacy coaches, the perceived level of servant leadership reported by collaborating English teachers, and student achievement. The site for this study was a public school district in Texas. Fifteen instructional literacy coaches and 100 English teachers completed the Servant Leadership Assessment Instrument (SLAI), which provided the instrumentation for this study. The results of the SLAI were examined in relation to student achievement data on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). No statistically significant correlation was found between instructional literacy coaches' self-reported servant leadership, language arts teachers' perceptions of their literacy coach's servant leadership behaviors and student achievement. However, an exploratory analysis of Hypothesis 2 indicated that, while there was no significant correlation in SLAI scores between instructional literacy coaches and English teachers, there was a difference in servant leadership behaviors self-reported by instructional literacy coaches and teacher reported servant leadership behaviors and practices of literacy coaches. This research has implications for educational leadership practice, as educators can use insights from this study to explore appropriate models of leadership and reform as they work to improve student achievement.

This present study used survey data from 31 employees working at 2 Chick-fil-A locations to assess the supervisor's perceived level of supervisor's level of servant leadership and how the level (a) affects coworker's perceptions of performance, (b) job satisfaction, and (c) relational trust amongst coworkers. The participants ranged in ages from 18-50. The average age for the participants was 26. The data for the study was collected through the distribution of surveys to individuals who currently work at Chick-fil-A. The two selected locations were approximately 300 miles apart in Virginia. The study employed quantitative research methods in order to collect and analyze the data from the participants at the two Chick-fil-A franchises. Positive correlations did exist between servant leadership and trust, satisfaction, and performance. Gender was not significant in determining perceived levels of servant leadership, trust, and performance but several survey items relating to gender and job satisfaction were significant.
