Book Description
A Cape Cod Girl's Life Adventure. Pearl spent her entire childhood of the 1030s and 40s in Osterville, Cape Cod, Massachusetts and graduated from Barnstable High School in 1945. Her father, Frazer, was a carpenter who helped build the old Osterville Schoolhouse on West Bay Road. He had a farming background and raised chickens and pigs to help feed his growing family-which would reach two daughters and four sons. He would perform his own carpentry on their 272 Tower Hill Road house in excavating out a basement and finishing the entire 2nd floor. The house had three bedrooms, one bathroom, and an outhouse (for when the bathroom clogged). Two sons would share space under the stairs to sleep as toddlers. At the time he moved in, their road was unpaved, and was actually called "Off Pond Street" because it ran adjacent to Joshua's Pond.Pearl describes much of her life, but most people, especially Cape Codders, will appreciate the descriptions she provides in growing up small-town in Osterville. Before television and when regular folk shared party line phones with their neighbors and had iceboxes to store their refrigerated goods, she details her childhood playing with friends, fishing and ice skating on Sam's pond, and swimming at Joshua's pond. It was a less hurried way of life back then, which people of today, I expect, will look back on with envy.Pearl has a colloquial style that is honest and satisfying. She wrote as she spoke, and you will feel as though Pearl is talking to you as you read her words (and see her pictures) in describing what it was like living in America from 1927 to 2003.The second half of the book contains writings by family and friends that detail the final decade of Pearl's life and her struggle with old age and cancer. Because she writes about husband Howard, who moved from Boston to Cape Cod for his last two years of high school and lived only one block away from her in Osterville, a description of his journey and end through Alzheimer's is provided.

Book Description
When I first began my journey as a pet sitter in Falmouth on Cape Cod, I had no idea where the journey would lead me. Pet sitting involves visits to clients' homes, giving peace of mind to pet owners, and eliminates the trauma that many pets experience when they are boarded in an unfamiliar environment. I believe pets are God's example to us of unconditional love. If we could be half as loving, loyal, trusting, and awesome as pets, we could change the world. Much to my surprise, in the past fifteen years my earnings have exceeded $300,000. Much more than income though, was the satisfaction and love I received in return from fur friends.
