This report presents results of fishery studies, sampling, acoustic surveys, and research results that were compiled & used to evaluate the status of herring in the Scotian Shelf/Bay of Fundy area. Spawning stock biomass was also estimated from acoustic surveys of spawning grounds. Resource status & outlook are discussed for the following components of the herring fishery of the area: the south-west Nova Scotia/Bay of Fundy spawning component; the offshore Scotian Shelf Banks spawning component; the south shore, eastern shore, & Cape Breton spawning component; and south-west New Brunswick migrant juveniles.
