Billions of passengers undertake international and domestic air travel every year. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, during 2015, the number of international tourist arrivals exceeded one billion, with half a billion-people heading to emerging economies. Domestic travel is growing rapidly in India and China. In the US, domestic travel in 2016 accounted for more than 2.2 billion-person trips. Leisure travel was the major reason behind the US domestic travel - about 79 percent. The US Department of Commerce estimated that over 73 million Americans took part in international travel in 2015. It is estimated that over 75.6 million international visitors came to the United States in 2016. Travelers face several health issues: jet lag, dehydration, fatigue and stress - to name a few. Further, illness during travel is common. Travel diarrhea affects almost 69 %, especially those travelling to developing countries. About 13% of travelers who fall ill during travel look for local health care - and 25% continue to have complaints during the first two days on returning home. Yoga practice endows one with significant health benefits. Yoga may help prevent or ease several of these travel related discomforts. This book provides you with: - 3 sequences of sun salutations (a high intensity yoga workout) - 3 sequences of yoga poses - 15 poses, 30 poses and 45 poses (a low intensity yoga workout) - 3 breathing exercises - 3 meditation techniques These are illustrated and should be done during your travels. Book Description
Time travel is not just science fiction; it may actually be possible. Wolf draws on yoga and quantum physics to show that time is a flexible projection of mind. Cheating time, he says, is an ancient metaphysical idea from the Vedas having to do with moving through meditation to a place where time stands still.

Book Description
Head in the Clouds: A Guide to Yoga for Airline Travelers A review by Jane Protzman As a bona fide Lufthansa frequent traveler, I have survived thousands of frequent flyer miles without the benefit of this new book by City Island resident and yoga teacher Marc Kaplan. Now the next time I fly, I will carry with me Marcs how-to book, Head in the Clouds: A Guide to Yoga for Airline Travelers. The book is a real City Island collaborative effort, with photography by Ron Terner and design by Marguerite Chadwick-Juner. Organized in the form of a workbook, this valuable book provides many suggestions on how to overcome numerous aspects of flying, whether it be fear of flying, flight preparation, exercise during the flight, overcoming jet lag, and other calming techniques using the disciplines of yoga. Marc also provides travel and related environmental tips, and if you are going nowhere this summer, the exercises and practices can be used sitting at home or in your office. Everyone remembers the traditional inconveniences of airline travel, but now we must add to those more recent regulations that have made flying even more painful: encountering traffic jams on the way to the airport, waiting in the long boarding pass and security lines, finding space for the carry-on luggage, discovering your seat in the middle of three with no knee room, worrying about connecting flights because of flight delays, and finally, waiting for baggage and hoping that it will be there. Carrying Marcs book can help alleviate some of the stress associated with your time as an airline passenger. A few hints to address all aspects of flying: To prevent dehydration, drink water before flying. While you are in the traffic jam or standing in the ever-present lines, practice some of the eight standing in place yoga positions. Your fellow passengers may look at you a little funny, but you will be more relaxed, and it might lead to an interesting conversation. Marc provides eighteen yoga positions that can be tried while seated, assuming the person in front of you doesnt have the seat in its extreme reclining position. He gives foot exercises and neck rolls but also some creative uses of the tray table and blanket that can help in changing ones position. And if one is on good terms with your seatmates, for a good shoulder stretch, you can try reaching your arms across your body to meet your neighbors hands doing the same. But if you are shy, you can also use the armrests. All of the yoga suggestions are presented with a photograph of Marc himself demonstrating the positions.

Book Description
For many people, traveling is inherently stressful. There is the worry of not packing everything you need. The physical discomfort of being on the road. The illnesses of other travelers impacting your own health. Depending on where you go, there can be strange foods that your stomach is not quite willing to digest properly. Yoga can help with all of this. This book is designed to help you ease the stress of being on the road. By adding gentle movements to your travel routine you ensure your body gets the best possible chance to release those tense muscles and relax. That then boosts your immune system to ward off colds and germs. If you're in a situations where you're crossing time zones or dealing with other sleep issues, the meditation portion of this book can help immensely. Numerous studies show that meditation time is almost as good as sleep time for refreshing and refueling the brain. This book is a subset of my larger books on yoga and meditation. This book here is specifically aimed at techniques you can use when you travel. Namaste. All author's proceeds will benefit battered women's shelters. If you have never done yoga at all, I highly recommend you start with a live human being helping you in person. That person can ensure you hold the poses in a healthy, safe way. If you don't have access to a human, at least use a video of some sort to see the poses in motion. It's like learning the harp or learning to swim - you need to see how the whole body moves. My book then helps you understand my personal poses, to create an atmosphere of stress relief and forgiveness. Feel free to contact Lisa if you have any questions about her routine - she's happy to help!
