On the question of the necessity of outward sacraments, the 'society of Friends differ from many of their christian brethren, believing that they were but types of the great sacrifice, and of Christ's cleansing blood. They claim to be in Christian fellowship with all true believers; in no way condemning those who construe as a command of Christ, the use of material elements; at the same time believing that their use has a tendency with worldly people to satisfy them, by resting upon the form rather than upon the substance.
