Book Description
We discuss the role of flavor-SU(3) symmetry in determining relative phases in charm decays. Relative strong phases in D decays play an important part in the precise determination of the phase gamma in the unitarity triangle for the quark-mixing matrix. Flavor SU(3) provides a successful framework for studying D decays to a pair of pseudoscalars. We briefly review the flavor-SU(3) parametrization in D & rarr; PP processes and its extension to study D decays to a vector and a pseudoscalar. We present a fit to Cabibbo-favored D & rarr; PV decays to determine relevant flavor-SU(3) parameters, and use these to study three-body D-decay Dalitz plots. We study relative strong phases arising from the presence of intermediate vector resonance modes in three-body D decays, using our flavor-SU(3) parametrization of D & rarr; PV decays. The sign of the vector meson decay amplitude is important in determining relative phases, and we note that in most cases proper sign convention has been used. Cross-ratio measurements from multiple Dalitz plots seem to agree with flavor-SU(3) predictions more than phases of amplitudes that are dependent on flavor-SU(3) parametrization and hence susceptible to corrections from flavor breaking. Measured relative phases seem to disagree with flavor calculations up to about 20° in most cases. We offer solutions to this discrepancy. The flavor-SU(3) predictions seem to be different from measurements in the D0 & rarr; KSK+/- pi & mnplus; channels making these a prime target for reanalysis in the future.

Book Description
NSA is a comprehensive collection of international nuclear science and technology literature for the period 1948 through 1976, pre-dating the prestigious INIS database, which began in 1970. NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Abstracts and full text are provided if available.

Book Description
From August 29 to September 7, 2006, a large group of distinguished lecturers and young physicists coming from various countries around the world met in Erice, Italy, at the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture (EMFCSC) for the 44th course of the International School of Subnuclear Physics: “The Logic of Nature, Complexity and New Physics: From Quark-Gluon Plasma to Superstrings, Quantum Gravity and Beyond”.This book is a collection of lectures given during the course, covering the most recent advances in theoretical physics and the latest results from current experimental facilities. Following one of the aims of the School, which is to encourage and promote young physicists to achieve recognition at an international level, the students who have distinguished themselves for their excellence in research have been given the opportunity to publish their presentations in this volume.

Book Description
The Lepton-Photon symposiums — as represented by the contributions in this volume — are among the most popular conferences in high energy physics since they give an in-depth snapshots of the status of the field as provided by leading experts. The volume covers the latest results on flavor factories, quantum chromodynamics (QCD), electroweak physics, dark matter searches, neutrino physics and cosmology, from a phenomenological point of view. It also offers a glimpse of the immediate future of the field through summaries on the status of the next generation of high energy accelerators and planned facilities for astroparticle physics. The review nature of the articles makes the volume particularly useful to students, as well as being of interest to established researches in high-energy physics and related fields.

Book Description
These proceedings present the most up-to-date status of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) physics. Topics such as structure function measurements and phenomenology, quantum chromodynamics (QCD) studies in DIS and photoproduction, spin physics and diffractive interactions are reviewed in detail, with emphasis on those studies that push the test of QCD and the Standard Model to the limits of their present range of validity, towards both the very high and the very low four-momentum transfers in lepton-proton scattering.
