Book Description
Alexander Barclay, Richard Carew, Humfrey Gifford, Anne Dowriche, Sir Walter Ralegh, Sir Arthur Gorges, Joseph Hall, John Ford, Robert Herrick, Sidney Godolphin, William Strode, William Browne, Mary, Lady Chudleigh, John Gay, Samuel Taylor Coleridge. All of these are poets born in the two westernmost counties of England, or - like Hall and Herrick - poets who were active there. In time we stretch from the very beginning of the 16th century until the early 19th century. We begin with Barclay, a priest at Ottery St. Mary, and we close with Coleridge, the son of a priest at Ottery St. Mary, his birthplace. We have names that echo down through the ages (Ralegh), great writers central to the development of English poetry (Herrick, Coleridge), we have divines (Hall, Herrick), we have cavaliers (Godolphin), we have balladeers (Gay), we have under-recognised talents (Gorges, Strode, Browne, Chudleigh), we have virtuoso translators (Barclay, Carew) and we have two women poets (Dowriche, Chudleigh), one of whom influenced Marlowe and another whose work was admired by Dryden. This anthology presents an unusual collection of some fine poets from the south-west corner of England and inaugurates a new Classics series from Shearsman Books.

Book Description
In this provocative and thoughtful anthology, many voices join in illuminating the remarkably vast and varied American West. The verse collected here ranges from American Indian tribal poems to old folk songs like “The Streets of Laredo,” from country-western lyrics to the work of such foreign poets as Bertolt Brecht and Zbigniew Herbert. Here is the West in all its rich variety–the harsh life of farms and ranches; man’s destructive invasion into forest and desert solitudes; the bars and bistros of San Francisco and Hollywood; Pacific surf and endless highways; the ghost towns, the poverty, and the legendary world of cowpunchers and gunslingers. From Robert Frost’s “Once by the Pacific” to Charles Bukowski’s “Vegas,” from Fred Koller’s “Lone Star State of Mind” to Thom Gunn’s “San Francisco Streets”–the West is evoked in all its incarnations, both actual and mythic.

Book Description
The revolution will be led by Black women who are just tired enough to do it ourselves Welcome to the revolution! In her second collection, Jillian Hanesworth explores the idea of revolutionary change through a personal and community lens. The internal revolution details some of her most personal thoughts, insecurities, pains, and triumphs, while the external revolution displays her work and love for her community by speaking truth to power, calling for change, recounting history, and empowering people to walk in their own light. This book also features a transcribed conversation with Dr. Cornel West about using the arts to build political power. The revolution starts now.
