Book Description
Resilience enables us not only to survive adversity, but to be transformed by it. This book offers simple and proven strategies to develop resilience that will be of enormous benefit to anyone who is yearning to feel more peaceful and prepared. Coast Guard veteran, interfaith chaplain, and pastor Tracy Mehr-Muska shares the stories of her own struggles with self-esteem, sexual assault, and miscarriage that inspired her to research resilience and to enthusiastically reach this conclusion: resilience is not something that is inborn, but instead is a set of characteristics we can cultivate. Mehr-Muska brings these characteristics to life using inspirational secular and multifaith stories, as well as compelling scientific evidence. She ties each chapter together with an uplifting story of a personal friend that bravely and gracefully overcame obstacles and embodies each of these essential characteristics. Weathering the Storm also poses insightful questions for reflection and offers concrete strategies for implementation that can be used individually or in group contexts such as faith communities, families, and therapeutic relationships. Just as we practice fire drills before a fire happens, this book will help us be better equipped for the eventual storms of life so we can live with greater peace and preparedness.

Book Description
The principal cause of the 1930s depression in Southeast Asia lay outside the region—through a sharp contraction in demand for the region's major commodity exports. But it had important internal causes, too: an oversupply of primary commodities and an increasing scarcity of new agricultural land leading to higher rents and lower wages, rising indebtedness and increasing landlessness. This work thoroughly analyses the pre-war depression. It also looks at the changes in the basic structures of the economies of Southeast Asia that were of long-term importance, such as the role of the state in the economy. The authors also draw similarities and contrasts between the 1930s depression and the 1990s Asian crisis. Contributors are Peter Boomgaard, Anne Booth, Pierre Brocheux, Ian Brown, William G. Clarence-Smith, Daniel F. Doeppers, Paul H. Kratoska, J. Thomas Lindblad, Sompop Manarungsan, S. Nawiyanto, Irene Norlund, Jeroen Touwen, and Willem Wolters. Co-published with ISEAS, Singapore

He celebrates with the same joyful mindset of embracing "every little win" along the way that his family has practiced for years. But despite not having any music or vocal training he won the show's entire eighteenth season! Fans loved Todd's rich voice, but they loved his exuberant joy even more. No one knew, though, that his joy came not from winning each round but from years of choosing light over darkness. In Every Little Win, Todd and Brooke share how their focus on joy and celebrating every little win has helped them to overcome numerous challenges over their twenty-plus-year marriage. From being on brink of divorce to parenting a critically ill child, from wrestled with Brooke's depression and Todd's food addiction to pastoring a small congregation through periods of adversity, Todd and Brooke share the lessons they've learned and the strategies that have moved them from fear to faith to ever-present joy. In Every Little Win, Todd and Brooke share how decades of unrelenting challenges taught them to celebrate not just the big wins but also every little win along the way.
