Yea Though I Walk Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death

Book Description
Yea though I Walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death had to be written. It is a heart-wrenching account of a womans road through her own personal anguish and back, one that could be written only by the person who experienced it. It describes how she lived through the death of her infant daughter, a fire that totally destroyed her home and its contents, the suicide of her 21-year-old son, the killing of her 25-year-old son, the subsequent trauma, called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that followed, and her return to stability. Such a listing doesnt capture Chriss journey. Though not a professional writer, she has allowed us to enter her world, with all of its twists and turns, moments of sadness and despair, and finally, the peace that comes from emerging on the other side. She has a guileless honesty that wont let you go. No doubt thousands of people have shared some of Chriss experiences few, if any, to her degreebut fewer still have her ability to capture that experience in a way that makes her experiences their own. Kevin Burne, Ph.D.

Though I Walk Through the Valley

Book Description
The year 1973 marked a very low point in the life of Vance Havner, America¿s most quoted preacher. It was the year his beloved wife and companion of thirty-three years was struck down by a fatal and dreaded disease which distorted her lovely features and rendered her a helpless invalid. She departed this life to be forever with the Lord on September 2, 1973. Though I Walk Through the Valley is the chronicle of Vance Havner¿s passage through the darkest valley of his life, the record of how his faith in God triumphed in the crucible of suffering and bereavement. Don¿t expect these pages to be filled with time-worn clichés or pat answers. The book is written from the vantage point of one who has kept vigil alongside the hospital bed of his dying wife. People say things like, ¿I¿m so sorry you¿ve lost your wife.¿ Havner responds: ¿Lost is not the right word for Christians divided by death. You haven¿t lost anything when you know where it is!¿ People also say, ¿I know just how you feel,¿ to which Havner replies: ¿People often try to sympathize, but you have to go through this to know what it is like. You cannot share by imagination or observation. You have been there or you haven¿t.¿ ¿Now that she¿s gone, do the best you can.¿ Havner responds: ¿I want to do the best that Christ can do in me, exceedingly abundant above all I can ask or think.¿

Walking Through the Valley
Author: Dr. Curtis E. Smith
Publisher: WestBow Press
ISBN: 1449785034
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 278
Book Description
Walking through the Valley explores terminal patients struggle with life, death, and spirituality at the end of their life journey. Medical research reveals prayer does make a difference: healing, physical remission, and peace of mind occur through prayer. There appears to be a paradox: many believe that healing can only be of a physical nature, when, in fact, healing exhibits itself in different perspectives. Walking through the Valley is a compilation of true stories about patients living with a terminal illness, some of whom have found their healing by discovering a pathway through faith in a Higher Power: God, as they have come to know Him.

Book Description
As we traverse the path of life have, we ever stopped to think about what it would be like if we became sick or disabled? I am sure that thought is never uppermost in our minds because after all who wants to get sick. We all want to be in good health and live life to its fullest. However, we must be aware that life is not always chocolate and roses, we sometimes must go through the dark valleys and the trenches. Now that I have been through my deep, dark valley and came out victorious I can encourage others to keep your hope alive because “it is not finished until God says it’s finished.” This book “Walking through the valley” my journey through sickness was compiled as a means of heightening the awareness and faith of the readers who may be going through some of life’s challenges. If you or your family members are experiencing any form of illness or have been told by the doctor that your condition does not look good, this is the book for you to read. This book will provide the tools you need to face your tomorrows and force you to pray without ceasing “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” (Ephesians 6:18) increase your prayer life. All bible verses that are quoted in this book are taken from the King James Version (KJV), and it is hoped that you will search the scriptures for yourself because in them you will find life. While going through my sickness I was not able to search the bible to find encouraging scriptures, but there were those scriptures in my memory that I recalled to mind. It is therefore important for us to study the scriptures while we have the chance because we will certainly need them in times of crisis.

"Almost There" Walking through the Valley
Author: Jack Weitzel
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 164191906X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 341
Book Description
Just a few moments before his death, my father looked straight ahead and with a calm voice said to me, 'Almost there!' It has been 20 years since his homeward journey and I have been haunted by those words. What was he seeing that we couldn't see? In my career as a surgeon and a witness for Christ, I have observed many deaths when the last moments were calm and unafraid. Four years as a hospice volunteer brought me even more intimate with those last moments. I think that the valley David wrote of could also represent moments of extreme circumstances in our lives when we are in the Shadow of death: an automobile accident with severe injuries, the sudden loss of a child or spouse, the loss of a career, a consuming fire, a devastating flood, the birth of a stillborn. Do you have the Good Shepherd to guide you through these times? We only have this moment, this breath. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Do you have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding? Are you ready to walk through the valleys of your life? Come with me as I walk through the valley of the hospice and witness the grace and comfort that only God can provide for us. Journey with me and meet my Lord. There will be stops along the way as we see how the world deals with the valley. I pray that this book might be a life changing experience for you as we journey to 'Almost there.'

Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 124
Book Description
Silence is like a burglar alarm that wont turn off. Grief must like silence; the mere whisper of a cry or hint of a tear and Grief makes its presence known. Silence is a megaphone for Grief. A constant that is a deafening reminder of what I am missing. Yet, I find at times it also promotes a quietness with my Lord. Somehow I need to find a way to cherish the solitude in a positive way. Proving once again that Gods light is brightest when our hour is darkest, Walking through the Valley of Tears is one mans surprising discovery of unending grace at his time of greatest grief. This is a must read for anyone experiencing loss or needing affirmation of Gods limitless love. Rosemary Clair, author of Heir of Earth When your body is exhausted and your soul is parched, you can find unexpected comfort, nurture, rest, and renewal in the darkness of the valley. Buddy McElhannon reminds us that resources are abundant in the valley as the living water pours forth through tears and grief gives way to the riches only heartache can cultivate. Heartwarming, honest, and hopeful, Buddy gently invites us all to journey together with Christ through the depths of the valley and introduces us to good soil, calm water, and the protected canopy that God provides so we can once again shout with joy from the mountaintop. I promise that Buddy will be a helpful guide as you find strength in weakness, hope in despair, and joy in journey while Walking through the Valley of Tears.
