On a rainy night in March 1958, Joe as a young boy of ten years old along with his younger brother are abandoned by their mother over Troubled Water. Crying out loud with no one around to overhear him praying for help. The occasion brings about hearing unusual voices that start to play an intricate part in his life. This event haunts Joe while growing up from a boy into manhood causing him to always search for answers to why. Certain relatives, teachers and mentors in Joe’s life begin to replace the lost love and guidance needed by a young boy to become someone worthwhile. These folks in Joe’s circle of life are quickly recognized and admired, giving him the strong footing he needs to survive. Demands are placed on his teenage lifestyle that would destroy most young adults, but Joe finds the strength to overcome the bad pathways by those same Voices Over Troubled Water. Along Joe’s journey in life, Troubled Water shows its massive mind power at far reaching locations as he travels around the world while serving in the US Navy and the Vietnam War. He finds that there are some Troubled Waters that are finally at peace and those that are not and never will be. A long time family secret is exposed by accident that intertwined most of his elder family members and their silence for many years. This family secret enabled Joe to find most of his long lost answers to questions that were thought to never be solved. Each and every one of these amazing stories in this memoir are true and have been experienced by the author.

Book Description
In spite of South Africas progressive constitution, citizens intolerance of non-citizens, refugees and economic migrants has escalated in recent years. What is more, xenophobic attacks are covered in the public discourse as mere episodes of crisis and often rather fuel rhetoric of national machismo than leading to an acknowledgement of the stories and experiences of people seeking refuge and being exposed to hostility on an everyday basis. This ethnography engages with the strategies employed by a group of refugee men from different African countries in surviving and stabilising their existence in the mother city Cape Town in the face of precarity. It grapples with questions of how the men manage to bring about certainty in the face of unpredictability and extends its focus to the mens dreams and the modes by which these are sought to be achieved. It thereby highlights the ways in which objectifications as refugees and less-than-human are somewhat transcended by navigating spaces with care, purpose and imagination.

Book Description
An honest and candid memoir from one of Australia’s most phenomenal voices. A story of determination, humility and self-discovery. All Anthony Callea wanted was to sing. From his first memories of singing for his family, Anthony knew that he wanted to share his voice with the world. He had a strongly held dream but was as surprised as anyone when his breakout moment (his heart-stopping rendition of ‘The Prayer’ on Australian Idol) turned him into a household name overnight. Now, in his own words, Anthony shares the joys and challenges of becoming celebrated for his voice, all while navigating the twists and turns of life. It’s a story of a kid from the working-class western suburbs of Melbourne with a big dream and an even bigger voice, who had to finish growing up in the spotlight. Anthony’s 20-year career has spanned stage, arena, and screen, and he now invites you backstage to share his journey. One day you are working at a suburban shopping centre as a Freddo Frog mascot, the next you are topping charts, winning awards and sharing stages with Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. These candid, courageous and, at times, very amusing anecdotes take us beyond the slick facade of showbiz, to the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that it takes to become one of Australia’s most enduring and beloved entertainers.
