Le travail suivant après une étude rigoureuse des pratiques de trois médecins généralistes de Loire-Atlantique met en évidence un des écueils de nos traitements pourtant bien établis. Il s'agit de la non adhésion au traitement. Cette résistance à la prise médicamenteuse est un obstacle majeur à la bonne prise en charge de la dépression. La seconde partie de ce travail a permis le recueil de propos de patients afin de mieux comprendre leur attitude vis à vis du traitement médicamenteux. Cette séquence analytique a souligné la nécessité pour le médecin de saisir l'originalité absolue de la demande d'un patient atteint de trouble dépressif par rapport à un autre patient atteint du même trouble. Enfin, l'étude suivante, s'appuyant largement sur les données de la littérature trace les grandes lignes de ce qui fait la relation thérapeutique, lui conférant les vertus particulières dont elle bénéficie.
