A Floristic Inventory of Vascular Plants of the Medicine Bow Mountains, Southeastern Wyoming
Author: Laura E. Lukas
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781267424181
Category : Plants
Languages : en
Pages : 56
Book Description
This inventory expands the floristic coverage of the Medicine Bow Mountains, located in southeastern Wyoming. This range, covering 830 square miles, was surveyed for all species of vascular plant. Most of the lands inventoried belong to the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest but small portions are under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management or owned by the State of Wyoming. Over three summers, 9,837 numbered specimens were collected at 168 sites, representing 858 taxa and one hybrid. An additional 197 taxa are included in the checklist. They were not found during this study but documented by previous collectors (Rocky Mountain Herbarium Plant Specimen Database). Thus the total of unique taxa for the Medicine Bows is 1052. Alchemilla filicaulis ssp. filicaulis and Carex arcta are species new to Wyoming. Also documented were eight noxious weeds and 25 species of conservation concern. The latter were found at 62 locations.
