Book Description
Bladder Cancer is designed for researchers and clinicians involved in urologic practice, including urologists, medical oncologists, pathologists and radiologists. It provides comprehensive guidance for treating and understanding bladder cancer and serves as an up-to-date reference reflecting evidence-based research. The biological behavior of this disease entity shows a heterogeneous pattern with diverse morbidity and mortality depending on a variety of factors, such as tumor characteristics (tumor stage, grade, size, number, shape, and histologic subtypes) and applied treatment modalities (surgery or non-surgical management). This book presents the substantial academic developments in the field of bladder cancer in one convenient reference. Presents a comprehensive overview of the basic and translational research into bladder cancer Provides the established guidelines for bladder cancer in real clinical practice and relevant evidence-based research Saves academic, medical and cancer researchers time in quickly accessing the very latest details on bladder cancer, as opposed to searching through multiple sources Assists academic clinicians in understanding the importance of the breakthroughs that are contributing to advances in bladder cancer research

Book Description
The Joint FAO/IAEA Division of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture has a long history of coordinating isotope aided research projects for improving animal productivity in developing countries. These projects have focused on enhancing the efficiency of animal production through better use of locally available feed resources and those that do not compete with human food. As a part of these efforts, the Joint Division has been actively involved in developing and simplifying approaches for measuring microbial protein supply to ruminant livestock. The contribution of microbial protein in meeting the overall requirement for protein in ruminants is significant, but understanding the contribution of microbial protein to the nutrition of ruminant livestock has been hampered by the lack of simple and accurate methods for measuring microbial protein production in vivo. A Consultants’ Meeting was held in 1995 in Vienna to explore the feasibility of using nuclear and related techniques to develop and validate new approaches for measuring microbial protein supply in ruminant animals. Based on the available information, the consultants considered that the purine derivative excretion method, which is non-invasive and both simple to use and inexpensive compared with other available methods, had the potential for use in developing countries. However, development of models for various animal species and breeds and their validation were required before this technique could be advocated for use.

Book Description
Palliative care affirms the value of holistic support for persons facing death from advanced disease. Increasingly the approach of palliative care is seen as relevant not only to terminal cancer (its initial concern) but also to many other incurable conditions. To date, the major emphasis of specialist neurology has been on diagnosis, and the continuing long term management of the many major diseases has received far less attention. This handbook aims to provide succinct and practical advice on the management of major neurological disorders in both their supportive and terminal phases, recognizing that these conditions are increasing in prevalence in virtually every society as the proportion of elderly persons grows. It demonstrates how the discomforts encountered in dementia, stroke, Parkinson's disease, ALS, Huntington's disease, muscular dystrophies and multiple sclerosis can benefit from the same comprehensive approach to palliation as has evolved in specialist care for cancer.
