Book Description
This book is a history, an indictment, a lament, and an appeal, focusing on the messianic trend in Lubavitch hasidism. It records the shattering of one of Judaism's core beliefs and the remarkable equanimity with which the standard-bearers of Orthodoxy have allowed it to happen. This is a development of striking importance for the history of religions, and it is an earthquake in the history of Judaism. David Berger describes the unfolding of this historic phenomenon and proposes a strategy to contain it.

Book Description
Why did Rebbe Nachman's followers never choose another rebbe? How has the Breslov Movement survived and flourished for over 180 years without a dynasty of rebbes? To find the answer, meet Reb Noson -- Rabbi Noson Sternhartz (1780-1844), Rebbe Nachman's closest disciple, who devoted his life to bringing the Rebbe's message of faith, hope and joy out into the world. A young rabbinic scholar, and astute businessman as well, what made Reb Noson feel his life was empty and futile? What drove him to persevere in the face of familial opposition in order to follow Rebbe Nachman? What powered him to singlehandedly print the Rebbe's books and fire a new generation of chassidim in the face of relentless persecution, a gruesome assassination attempt, and a campaign to have him sent to Siberia? This thoroughly-researched biography will keep you absorbed for hours as you relive Reb Noson's life with him step by step. Includes full background information, appendices, maps and indices. Also available in Hebrew.

Book Description
YESHUA HA MASHIACH Epilogue In the temple area where the trial of Jesus was being conducted by Caiaphas (high priest that year) all seventy-one members of the Sanhedrin (Jewish Supreme Court) along with the elders, the rulers, and teachers of the law, a large crowd of people had gathered. Some of those present had methodically planned this event and had already paid for one of his disciples to betray him. It was truly a "set-up" deal that brought out quite a crowd of people at about daylight that morning. These "high ranking" men were fed up with this notorious trouble-maker who was causing them to lose money by drawing such large crowds of lower-class people away from them and they were all determined to put a stop to him once and for all. A few feet away from where they stood was a room within the temple called the "Holy of Holies" where only the high priest was allowed to enter, once each year, carrying the blood of an animal that had been sacrificed for the sins of the nation. These officials were the highest authorities of their religion yet they could not see that they were going to murder the "Giver of Life." They had no idea that this man was actually the creator of the universe, while the common folks seemed to readily accept it. Why would they bar Jesus from going behind the veil and into the "Holy of Holies"? Certainly they knew more about God than anyone else. And so, they all shouted as one: "CRUCIFY HIM!" YESHUA HA MASHIACH - (Jesus the Messiah) Who is he anyway?

Book Description
Recounts the Holocaust experiences of the Belzer Rebbe, Aharon Rokach (born in 1880), and his brother Mordechai, the Bilgorai Rebbe, who shared his fate. They fled from Belz (in Ukraine) to nearby Sokal and then to Peremyshliany, where several family members were killed. They found temporary refuge in Poland, in Wisnicz and then in Bochnia and Kraków, in both of which the rebbes were interned in the ghettos. In Bochnia the Belzer Rebbe survived in the guise of a "master tailor", while preserving, as he did throughout the Holocaust, his devotion to a life of Torah. After an escape to Slovakia failed, one to Hungary succeeded. In Budapest, the Rebbe was able to publicly lead his followers and other ultra-Orthodox Jews. At times he was sought by the Gestapo, but he was also respected by some Nazis as a "wonder rabbi". Efforts to rescue him centered in Eretz Israel, but also involved Belzer hasidim around the world. In Hungary, the Rebbe attempted to encourage rescue efforts for the remnants of Polish Jewry. In Palestine, Berish Ortner convinced Jewish religious and political figures to grant an immigration certificate to the Rebbe, who then made his way to Palestine. There he and his brother made strenuous efforts to inform the Jewish community about the dire situation in Europe and how they might still save part of Hungarian Jewry. Includes many examples of total religious dedication on the part of the Rebbe and those inspired by him to the point of martyrdom. The last chapter recounts the rescue activities in the Bochnia ghetto-labor camp of Eliezer Landau, who used bribes and cleverness to save the lives of thousands of his fellow Jews.
