El doctor Cruz explica que �durante el siglo XX, y especialmente en sus postrimer�as, se han venido produciendo importantes cambios sociales y culturales en el seno de los pa�ses desarrollados de Occidente. Desde puntos de vista bien distintos en este �mbito cultural ha surgido una nueva forma de pensar, y de entender el mundo, que difiere de lo que hasta ahora se llamaba el esp�ritu de modernidad. A esta nueva cultura se ha denominado �postmodernidad� debido a su fuerte oposici�n a la �poca que la gener�. El doctor Cruz denomina la postmodernidad como la �cultura del bienestar�. Y, los que han cre�do en Jes�s como Salvador han recibido la misi�n de hacer disc�pulos del mundo actual, el cual incluye el mundo postmoderno. En este contexto, Cruz explica: �El mandamiento divino de llevar el Evangelio a todo el mundo requiere el di�logo entre la fe cristiana y la cultura de cada �poca. Para poder comunicar hoy adecuadamente el mensaje de Jesucristo es necesario comprender las evoluciones peri�dicas que experimenta nuestra sociedad y reflexionar sobre sus �ltimas manifestaciones. Hay que saber c�mo piensan los hombres y mujeres a los que se dirige la Buena Nueva�. De manera que la comprensi�n de las �dos maneras de pensar� representa una herramienta �til en la comunicaci�n de evangelio de la salvaci�n gratuita que Jes�s ofrece y en el desarrollo como disc�pulos de aquellos que llegan a creer en �l. La modernidad se caracteriza como la �poca de las grandes utop�as y de los grandes actos de fe. Esto se comprende en la perspectiva del ser humano que se crey� aut�nomo e independiente con la fuerza de la raz�n. Se explica que �ya no era necesario recurrir a los mitos para explicar los misterios de la naturaleza. Se confiaba que la ciencia solucionar�a todos los problemas del hombre y acabar�a con la ignorancia y servidumbre de los pueblos�. La fe de la modernidad se caracteriza as�: fe en la libertad (la Ilustraci�n proclam� libertad para el individuo; la Revoluci�n Francesa la exig�a para el ciudadano; el marxismo peleaba por la libertad de los obreros; el feminismo la solicitaba para la mujer); fe en la ciencia (los siglos XVI y XVII atestiguan la Revoluci�n cient�fica); fe en el progreso (la humanidad se considera perfectible); fe en la historia (el hombre llegar�a a ser un superhombre exclusivamente por su propia voluntad); fe en el ser humano (los hombres son iguales y bondadosos por naturaleza); fe en Dios (la Reforma trae �nfasis saludables y en contraste se propone una nueva religi�n racional). The paradigm of «Critical Theory of Patriarchy» explains this failure and discusses alternatives.
