Book Description
Master's Thesis from the year 2006 in the subject Medicine - Biomedical Engineering, grade: 1.0, Technical University of Munich (LS Statik), course: Master of Science of Computational Mechanics, language: English, abstract: The process of adaptive bone remodeling can be described mathematically and simulated in a computer model, integrated with the finite element method. The main focus of this thesis is the implementation of a bone remodeling algorithm in MATLAB and ANSYS on the basis of FEM. The strain energy density is used as mechanical stimulus. The cortical and trabecular bone are described as continuous materials with variable density. This thesis can be divided into four main parts. The first part is due to the material properties of cortical and trabecular bone. The second part is about the remodeling theory and gives an historical review of the developed numerical approaches up to now. The implementation of the remodeling algorithm in ANSYS and MATLAB as well as its validation is topic of part three. In last main part, the algorithm is applied to a 2D FE-model of a human proximal femur.

Book Description
This book provides comprehensive mechanobiological insights into bone, including the microstructure of cancellous bone and its realistic loading in the human body. This approach considers different types of loads, i.e. static and dynamic, and the response under uniaxial and multiaxial loading conditions. The book also reviews additional factors influencing biomechanical properties, e.g. fluid transport. In closing, the mechanobiological approach is discussed in the context of the finite element method.

Book Description
Bone is a complex biological material that consists of both an inorganic and organic phase, which undergoes continuous dynamic biological processes within the body. This complex structure and the need to acquire accurate data have resulted in a wide variety of methods applied in the physical analysis of bone in vivo and in vitro. Each method has it

Book Description
This book provides an insight into the latest advances in bone fracture healing and remodeling algorithm and their incorporation into patient-specific finite element models and the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence to predict the bone regeneration and osseointegration process with a certain degree of accuracy. It also examines the applications of numerical models to simulate the fracture healing process, which may prove to be advantageous in determining the optimal mechanical-based treatment or reconstruction after an accident or illness. This book is aimed at medical and dental professionals who are involved in implantology and tissue engineering such as dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, students, and researchers.

Book Description
This book creates the theoretical foundation that novices need to perform the finite element method in implant dentistry. It shows how both the implant dentist and the designer can benefit from finite element analysis. The authors explain the theory and math of the finite element method. Then, you get practical applications alongside discussions of the critical issues in using finite element analysis for dental implant design.
