Book Description
◆The first book in a new series of short horror anthology stories for adults, young adults and older teens.◆ Welcome to the Twisted Library series, where you will be able to browse the many tales of terror. This collection of ten chilling horror and suspense stories delve into the realm of things that go bump in the night, demonic beings that live amongst us, evil that lurks within our minds, skin-crawling moments and nightmares beyond anything you can ever imagine. Here is a brief look at the terrifying stories that may cause you to stay up at night: ★ They Sleep At The Foot Of Our Beds - I haven't been feeling the same since my two beloved cats passed away. In hindsight, I realize that they were protecting me from something evil, something that I could not see but certainly something that I could feel. This thing has been waiting for some time to hurt me and for a while, my cats kept it at bay. ★ The Real Mr.Sandman - An investigation became a nightmare when a demon violates a young girl's mind, how can there be any sort of escape when your dreams are owned by this demon? ★ The Choice Is Yours - In this life, there is no denying that our choices define us. Some choices lead to great things while others lead to disappointment, fear, and even murder at times. ★ The Old Market Street Vendor - Sometimes, in street markets you'll find a stall that sells interesting and unusual trinkets. Nothing unusual about that, however, Officer Geoffrey discovered something very odd about the old vendor's stall...especially after people began to go missing. ★ Demon Bed - Maddy and Jim, a loving young couple with a dog and a happy life. They bought a beautiful antique four-poster bed to furnish their new home. From that day forward strange things began to occur; things beyond anyone's nightmares. ★ Iceberg Deep - The ship is wrecked. They couldn't fix it before the ice of the Arctic surrounded the hill. Half of the crew has gone missing. A crewmate knows where everyone is going, towards the lone iceberg standing in the middle of the infinite icy desert. ★ Stone Cold Kiss - In the old, abandoned art building is a secret known only to him. He harbors a one-sided love for a woman made of stone. But as strange things begin to happen around him, he suspects that his love has awakened something...or someone. ★ The Crone Pit - Thinking a short break would be good for her after her mother's death, Reba's fiancé, Jamie, drags her out on a long weekend. After a short hike, Reba soon finds herself trapped in a pit, where she finds a chained-up old woman who tells her horrifying accounts of Reba's future. ★ The Tortured Artist - After months of therapy, Margene returns to her passion for sculpting, channeling her pain and rage into a final art piece for her scholarship. But when her only friend's daughter tries to interfere with her creative process, the artist's repressed memories of abuse and torture resurface, leading her down a path of vengeance and madness. ★ The Bridge - I have very little to tell. All I can say for certain is that it was something dark. A hunched, huddled shape, something like a shadow, glimpsed for just for an instant from the corner of my eye. It stayed for a moment, like a smudge or an inky blur, on the very edge of vision, before, in a flash of thick black hair, it disappeared again. back beneath the bridge. I reccommend you don't read these horror stories alone and at night because you never know who or what could be watching you. Not to worry, because these horror stories of creatures, ghosts, ghouls and pure evil will most likely keep you up at night anyway. Sweet dreams!

Book Description
'The power of Dickens is so amazing, that the reader at once becomes his captive' WILLIAM MAKEPEACE THACKERAY The story of the orphan Oliver, who runs away from the workhouse to be taken in by a den of thieves, shocked readers with its depiction of a dark criminal underworld peopled by vivid and memorable characters - the arch-villain Fagin, the artful Dodger, the menacing Bill Sikes and the prostitute Nancy. Combining elements of Gothic romance, the Newgate novel and popular melodrama, Oliver Twist created an entirely new kind of fiction, scathing in its indictment of a cruel society and pervaded by an unforgettable sense of threat and mystery. Edited with an Introduction and notes by PHILIP HORNE

Book Description
Example in this ebook When I look at the completed MSS. of the first volumes of the Sportswomans' Library, I feel deeply grateful to the many good sportswomen who have aided me in my work, not only for the great stores of practical knowledge they have brought to bear on the several subjects of which we have treated, but for the way in which they have collaborated with me. For this my warmest thanks are due to them one and all. The object we have placed before us, is to give women the information and help they are not likely to find in those books, which are written chiefly from a man's point of view, and we have therefore avoided, as far as possible, trenching on ground that has been already adequately covered by those who, to sportsmen and sportswomen alike, are the best authorities on the various subjects. If, therefore, our writings sometimes seem to be wanting in completeness, it is, I venture to think, to be attributed to this cause. When I first gathered round me the body of contributors, some of whom were personally unknown to me, I could but feel that the many threads I held in my hand might prove to be a very "tangled skein," before the work was brought to completion. This foreboding, however, I am glad to say, was entirely without foundation, for each writer threw herself into her part with such genuine determination to do the best she could for the matter of her work, that the minor details as to the manner in which it should be given to the world, did not assume undue proportions, and there has been nothing to throw the slightest shadow over the harmony in which we have worked. That the effort we have thus jointly made to give some help to our sister-sportswomen may be successful, is to wish the writers the best reward they can have, for the labour they have bestowed. Besides my fellow workers, I have a debt of gratitude to discharge to all who have so kindly assisted me in my work. Foremost among these I must acknowledge the valuable help given by Lady Gifford, Mrs. Pryse-Rice, Mrs. Cheape, and Miss Lloyd, of Bronwydd, without whose assistance I could not have ventured to write on the subject of Hare-Hunting: by Mr. T. F. Dale, author of The Game of Polo, whose great practical knowledge of sport has made him an invaluable referee on many important questions: by another good sportsman, Captain the Hon. R. C. Drummond, who generously gave me the benefit of his advice on matters which have been a life-long study to him: by Elizabeth, Lady Wilton; Lady Theodora Guest, Lady Gerard, Lady Dorothy Coventry, Mrs. Wrangham, Mrs. T. E. Harrison, Miss Serrell, Mr. C. H. Bassett, late Master of the Devon and Somerset Staghounds; Mr. Ian Heathcoat-Amory, Master of the Tiverton Staghounds; Mr. W. L. Wyllie, A.R.A.; Miss Maud Earl, Miss Walrond, Mr. Cuthbert Bradley, Dr. Lewis Mackenzie, Miss Florence Ritson, and Mrs. Dudley Smith. I must also acknowledge the help so readily given by Mr. Charles Lancaster, and Messrs. Holland and Holland, on the sport with which their names are so closely connected, and I must thank those photographers who have exercised their skill on our behalf, viz.: Messrs. Lombardi and Co., who, from the first, have helped us largely; Messrs. Lambert Weston, J. Weston and Son, Stuart, Becken, and A. Debenham. My thanks are also due to the Proprietors of Baily's Magazine, The Field, The Gentlewoman, and The Lady's Pictorial for the use of blocks which have been re-produced in their pages. To be continue in this ebook
