Book Description
The 2016 edition of the European Environment Agency (EEA)Trends and projections in Europereport confirms that the European Union (EU) is well on track to meet its climate and energy targets for 2020. Despite a slight setback in 2015 concerning greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy efficiency, GHG emissions have already decreased below the 20 % reduction target; renewable energy use is growing faster than initially planned by Member States in order to achieve the 20 % target level; and energy consumption is decreasing at a pace that will be sufficient to reach the 2020 energy efficiency target (see Figure ES.1). According to preliminary estimates, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions slightly increased in 2015. These increases follow large reductions in 2014, due to an exceptionally warm winter that year that was responsible for particularly low energy demand for heating. Policies are playing an important role in driving the overall EU trends observed since 2005, in particular through a continued increase in renewable energy use. However, the transport sector in general is a laggard, both in terms of reducing GHG emissions and achieving the 10 % sectoral target for renewables by 2020.

Book Description
This 2015 report of the European Environment Agency (EEA) provides an analysis of past, present and future emissions trends under the EU ETS, based on the latest data and information available from the European Commission (i.e. May 2015 data on verified emissions and compliance in 2014 by operators under the EU ETS) and Member States (projections of ETS emissions until 2030, reported under the EU Monitoring Mechanism Regulation). The report also analyses the balance between supply and demand of allowances in the market. The report's annexes provide extensive material describing the functioning, scope and cap of the EU ETS, as well as a specific analysis of emissions of non-CO2 gases covered by the EU ETS. This report complements the annual EEA Trends and Projections in Europe report, where it was included until 2014 as a chapter on the EU ETS. In 2015, this chapter has become a separate publication of its own. This report also complements EEA Technical report 3/2015, Application of the EU Emissions Trading Directive.

Book Description
This report provides information about progress in RES in 2014 at the EU, country, energy market sector and RES technology levels. It also seeks to answer two key questions: Has the consumption of RES since 2005 contributed to lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and fossil fuel use across Europe? How does progress in European RES compare with developments in renewable energy in other parts of the world? The current report also complements the EEA's Trends and Projections in Europe 2016 - Tracking progress towards Europe's climate and energy targets report (EEA, 2016d) with more specific information, including the approximated RES share estimates for 2015 published by the EEA in 2016 (EEA, 2016b).

Book Description
Even as the 2013-2017 “migration crisis” is increasingly in the past, EU countries still struggle to come up with alternative solutions to foster safe, orderly, and regular migration pathways, Europeans continue to look in the rear-view mirror. This Report is an attempt to reverse the perspective, by taking a glimpse into the future of migration to Europe. What are the structural trends underlying migration flows to Europe, and how are they going to change over the next two decades? How does migration interact with specific policy fields, such as development, border management, and integration? And what are the policies and best practicies to manage migration in a more coherent and evidence-based way?

Book Description
"The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic marks the most significant, singular global disruption since World War II, with health, economic, political, and security implications that will ripple for years to come." -Global Trends 2040 (2021) Global Trends 2040-A More Contested World (2021), released by the US National Intelligence Council, is the latest report in its series of reports starting in 1997 about megatrends and the world's future. This report, strongly influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, paints a bleak picture of the future and describes a contested, fragmented and turbulent world. It specifically discusses the four main trends that will shape tomorrow's world: - Demographics-by 2040, 1.4 billion people will be added mostly in Africa and South Asia. - Economics-increased government debt and concentrated economic power will escalate problems for the poor and middleclass. - Climate-a hotter world will increase water, food, and health insecurity. - Technology-the emergence of new technologies could both solve and cause problems for human life. Students of trends, policymakers, entrepreneurs, academics, journalists and anyone eager for a glimpse into the next decades, will find this report, with colored graphs, essential reading.
