This report considers alternative ways of describing the customers & potential customers of a transit system in order to improve transit planning, marketing, and policy-making. It presents findings of a literature review which examined traditional transit industry attitude surveys and related studies, as well as reports & data produced as part of transportation modelling studies conducted since the late 1950s.
