"Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a minimally invasive procedure that repairs the valve without removing the old, damaged valve. TAVR is reserved for those patients for whom an open heart surgery procedure is not an option due to age and overall health. Most of the patients that are good candidates for this procedure are over 70 years old. The TAVR programs are multi-disciplinary units with nurses at the front.
