Book Description
Excerpt from Transactions and Year Book, 1939 T has been our duty and pleasure during the past year to record the events and highlights of School. In such a capacity, we have come to realize more fully the tremendous organization of which we are a part; and we have caught an intimate glimpse of the Schoolman at work and at play. It was with a feeling of pride that we noticed the enthusiasm with which he entered into sports; anxious to be in the thick of it and just as happy when he lost as when he won. When he came out on top he said he was lucky to win and the other fellow certainly was the best he had met yet. When he lost, the other fellow was better; but he soon started laying plans for the next encounter when he might be able to prove himself more successfully. It was often through sports, that he became acquainted with students of other faculties and engaged in friendly rivalry with them. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Book Description
Excerpt from Transactions and Year Book: April, 1934 With this in mind we offer this - the fourteenth edition - with befitting humility. We have attempted to make this as interesting to the alumni as to the undergraduate. The addresses given before the Engineer ing Society constitute the first section of the book in a condensed form. Several very interesting addresses were illustrated with lantern Slides and diagrams to such an extent as to make them impossible for publication. Thus we have been compelled to leave them out. The last part of the book is more properly School. In brief, it is our Year Book, and as such constitutes another page in the history of our Faculty. To the undergraduate it presents, in permanent form, a record of his interests during one of his years here. To the graduate it forms a connecting link with School. And so we give you transactions. And may we take this opportunity of thanking those of our advertisers who have stayed with us despite conditions. We would also like to extend our thanks to the members of the Faculty, graduates and under graduates, who have given their assistance and co-operation in making this publication possible. Similar Transactions
Author: S. R. Reynolds
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781979142168
Category : Criminals
Languages : en
Pages : 408
Book Description
The author sets out to explore the unsolved murder of a teenage girl from her old neighborhood, picks up the cold trail of a serial rapist and his other victims and finds herself caught up in a real-life drama. Similar Transactions is the fascinating, award-winning true story of the author's seven-year quest to solve a 20-year-old murder. Sasha Reynolds has never forgotten the mishandled case of fifteen-year-old Michelle Anderson, a vibrant beauty who went missing from Reynolds' Knoxville, Tennessee, neighborhood years earlier. Aided by her old professor, famed forensic anthropologist Dr. William (Bill) Bass--founder of the University of Tennessee's "Body Farm"--Reynolds picks up the trail of this long-cold case. As she presses neglected pieces of the puzzle into place, she unearths a string of brutal kidnappings and rapes across the South, crimes that span decades. All evidence points to one man: convicted sex offender Larry Lee Smith. She meets with victims and former investigators who worked on the case. A picture begins to form. Patterns appear. As a result of Reynolds' efforts, the Knoxville Police Department reopens the cold-case of Michelle's disappearance, but Larry Lee is about to be released from a Georgia prison, where he served time for a related crime--a "similar transaction." As his sentence runs out, Reynolds finds herself in a real-life drama. What transpires in this story is amazing on many levels. Reynolds writes a gripping and fascinating story, including how victims, former police and FBI investigators, and a savvy prosecutor come together on a mission to get justice for Michelle. Similar Transactions is the recipient of the IAN Outstanding True Crime Book of the Year Award, the 2017 eLit Gold Award for True Crime, and is among the top five books named The Best of Everything Nonfiction 2016 by author, critic, and screenwriter Emilio Corsetti III.
