Book Description
São Tomé and Principe is a small island nation located off the coast of West Africa. The country is comprised of two main islands, São Tomé and Principe, along with several smaller islets. The nation has a population of approximately 200,000 people and the official language is Portuguese. São Tomé and Principe was colonized by the Portuguese in the late 15th century and gained independence in 1975. The country’s economy is predominantly based on agriculture, with cocoa being the primary export. São Tomé and Principe is known for its biodiversity and ecotourism, with about 30% of the total land area being designated as protected areas. The nation is also rich in cultural and historical landmarks, such as the historic city of São Tomé, which is home to many colonial-era buildings and sites. Despite being considered to be one of the poorest countries in the world, São Tomé and Principe is actively working towards economic development and has attracted significant foreign investment in recent years.

Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe

Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 137
Book Description
This paper discusses Second National Poverty Reduction Strategy II (NPRS-II) (2012–2016) for Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe. A comparison of the results of the 2000 and 2010 poverty profile, based on the average income method, shows that there was progress in reducing poverty, albeit far less than expected. The ratio of the incidence of poverty decreased from 53.8 percent in 2000 to 49.6 percent in 2010, representing a reduction of 4.2 percentage points, which is far below the target set in the NPRS-I for 2010, and also shows relative improvement in the depth of poverty.

Volume 21, Tome III: Cumulative Index
Author: Katalin Nun Stewart
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351624059
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 128
Book Description
This last volume of Kierkegaard Research: Sources, Reception and Resources is a cumulative index to all the volumes of the series. The series was originally designed in a systematic fashion in order to make it as easily usable and accessible as possible. The individual parts of the series and the individual volumes have been organized to make it generally fairly simple to locate the main articles relevant for one’s research interests. However, the placement of some individual articles might not always be completely self-evident. Moreover, the sheer mass of material and information provided by the series makes a cumulative index a necessary accompanying resource. Further, given the scope of the series, it was inevitable that some names or topics are mentioned more than once in the series in different places beyond the main article ostensibly dedicated to them. The purpose of these indices is thus to help the readers to find an easy and direct way to the topics of their interest in the rich universe of Kierkegaard research. The material of the indices is divided into three tomes: Tome I is the Index of Names from A to K, Tome II covers the Index of Names from L to Z, while Tome III consists of the Index of Subjects and includes a complete overview of all the volumes, tomes and articles of the series.

Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 82
Book Description
This paper assesses the 2001 Article IV Consultation and Staff-Monitored Program (SMP) for Sao Tome and Principe. Fiscal slippages, delays in structural reforms, and governance problems during the fourth quarter of 2000 and the first three quarters of 2001 led to the program going off track. The key quantitative performance criterion on the primary budget balance and the quantitative benchmark on government spending were not observed at either end-December 2000 or end-June 2001. The SMP is intended to correct the slippages incurred in 2001 and reestablish a track record of policy implementation.
