Book Description
When a young corporate, Swati receives a set of envelopes at her office table, she is shocked by its contents. Each envelope has a date and time of its opening written on it. Also, each envelope has a warning message scribbled on it. “Please open this envelope at the time mentioned below your name.” She ignores, tears the first envelope and pulls out the page inside it. She uncovers a thick drawing sheet scratched in the middle with pencil; a hand-written line in the centre of the sheet. “I requested that you open the envelope at 12:30 PM. Envelopes not opened on time will lose their contents. The time right now is 09:00:25 AM” Swati checks her wristwatch and exhales sharply; her wristwatch ticks round to 9:00:25, accurate to the very second. Who sent her those envelopes? What exactly does he or she wants if he doesn’t want Swati to know the future before hand? ---------------------- A Soul is nothing but an energy with a conscious. A wave that can move across space, time and matter. The wave that your mind finally releases when you die. But a few gifted ones have the ability to leave the shackles of mind and return to physical self at will. What if I told you that there are people on this planet that can leave their body and travel the universe as a soul, they can travel both forward and backward in time. Some manipulate the world for their own selfish interest & a few devour themselves with the responsibility to harmonize and protect the world. The question is, are you sure such people don’t exist? -------

Automatic Modeling and Fault Diagnosis of Timed Concurrent Discrete Event Systems. Automatische Modellierung und Fehlerdiagnose zeitlicher nebenläufiger ereignisdiskreter Systeme
Author: Stefan Schneider
Publisher: Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH
ISBN: 3832539816
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 198
Book Description
The productive operation of machines and facilities is of great economic importance for industrial companies. In order to achieve high productivity, unscheduled production downtimes induced by faults need to be minimized. In this work, an approach for modelbased fault diagnosis of timed concurrent Discrete Event Systems is proposed that can contribute to this aim. The models are automatically determined by timed identification and partitioning. These approaches allow for efficient modeling of large and complex industrial systems with concurrent behavior requiring only little system knowledge. The work explains the theoretical and practical aspects of the presented approaches and gives a detailed evaluation based on a laboratory manufacturing system.

Security Management
Author: Michael Land
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1466561777
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 204
Book Description
Security is a paradox. It is often viewed as intrusive, unwanted, a hassle, or something that limits personal, if not professional, freedoms. However, if we need security, we often feel as if we can never have enough. Security Management: A Critical Thinking Approach provides security professionals with the ability to critically examine their organizational environment and make it secure while creating an optimal relationship between obtrusion and necessity. It stresses the benefits of using a methodical critical thinking process in building a comprehensive safety management system. The book provides a mechanism that enables readers to think clearly and critically about the process of security management, emphasizing the ability to articulate the differing aspects of business and security management by reasoning through complex problems in the changing organizational landscape. The authors elucidate the core security management competencies of planning, organizing, staffing, and leading while providing a process to critically analyze those functions. They specifically address information security, cyber security, energy-sector security, chemical security, and general security management utilizing a critical thinking framework. Going farther than other books available regarding security management, this volume not only provides fundamental concepts in security, but it also creates informed, critical, and creative security managers who communicate effectively in their environment. It helps create a practitioner who will completely examine the environment and make informed well-thought-out judgments to tailor a security program to fit a specific organization.

Hana is Greater. It's a future she never envisioned for herself, but she's not about to ignore the opportunity she's been given--the opportunity to find answers about her Mom, Jamie, and Fischer. This could be an opportunity to tell others the truth about God and uncover the secrets the Great Supreme has been keeping from their small, struggling nation. When Hana's search brings her to the mysterious prison she's only heard of in rumors, the desire to get inside drives her to dig deeper for answers, but what she uncovers may be bigger than them all. Can she save herself and the others before the Great Supreme realizes what she's doing, or will she give up everyone she loves in her quest for the truth?

Photonic Slot Routing in Optical Transport Networks
Author: Gosse Wedzinga
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461503175
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 212
Book Description
All-optical networking is generally believed to be the only solution for coping with the ever-increasing demands in bandwidth, such as the World Wide Web application. Optical backbone networks efficiently achieve a high level of traffic aggregation by multiplexing numerous users on circuit-switched wavelength paths - the so-called wavelength routing approach. In contrast, the reduced level of traffic aggregation in access and metro networks makes wavelength routing solutions not adequate. In these network areas, packet-interleaved optical time-division multiplexing with its finer and more dynamic bandwidth allocation is advocated. The book presents such an approach, known as photonic slot routing. It illustrates how this approach may provide a cost-effective solution to deploying all-optical transport networks, using today's optical device technology. To that end, the author combines DWDM-technology with fixed slot optical switching, and gives a comprehensive description of this approach in which slots are aligned across the wavelengths to form groups of data-flows that propagate as a whole inside the network. Operating algorithms are developed, and network performance is analyzed, both by means of theoretical analysis and many simulations of sample networks. This work will be of particular interest to researchers and professionals who are active in photonic networking.

Digital Telephony and Network Integration
Author: Bernard E. Keiser
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461517877
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 686
Book Description
What is "digital telephony"? To the authors, the term digital telephony denotes the technology used to provide a completely digital telecommunication system from end-to-end. This implies the use of digital technology from one end instru ment through transmission facilities and switching centers to another end instru ment. Digital telephony has become possible only because of the recent and on going surge of semiconductor developments, allowing microminiaturization and high reliability along with reduced costs. This book deals with both the future and the present. Thus, the first chapter is entitled, "A Network in Transition." As baselines, Chapters 2 and 11 provide the reader with the present status of teler-hone technology in terms of voice digiti zation as well as switching principles. The book is an outgrowth of the authors' consulting and teaching experience in the field since the early 1980s. The book has been written to provide both the engineering student and the practicing engineer a working knowledge of the prin ciples of present and future telecommunication systems based upon the use of the public switched network. Problems or discussion questions have been included at the ends of the chapters to facilitate the book's use as a senior-level or first year graduate-level course text. Numerous clients and associates of the authors as well as hundreds of others have provided useful information and examples for the text, and the authors wish to thank all those who have so contributed either directly or indirectly.
