Book Description
The series of volumes to which this book belongs honors contributors who have made a major impact in computational fluid dynamics. This fourth volume in the series is dedicated to David Caughey on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The first volume was published in 1994 and was dedicated to Prof Antony Jameson. The second, dedicated to Earl Murman, was published in 1998. The third volume was dedicated to Robert MacCormack in 2002.Written by leading researchers from academia, government laboratories, and industry, the contributions in this volume present descriptions of the latest developments in techniques for numerical analysis of fluid flow problems, as well as applications to important problems in industry.

Book Description
The results of many foreign and Hungarian researchers presented at the 6th International Conference on Solidification and Gravity, in Miskolc-Lillafüred, on September 2-5, 2013 have been collected in this volume. This conference series is aimed to attract all those having interest in the investigation and simulation of different types of solidification processes and both micro- and macro-gravity effects. Within the framework of the conference a MICAST meeting (Microstructure Formation in Casting of Technical Alloys under Diffusive and Magnetically Controlled Convective Conditions) was organized on September 5-6, 2013. The 2013 conference was a memorial one for Professor Hans Eckart Exner and Professor Erik György Fuchs who had died in the period between the previous (2008) and the last (2013) conference.

Book Description
There are two motives for studying materials processing in centrifuges. First, such research improves our understanding of the influence of acceleration and convection on materials processing. Second, there are commercial opportunities for production of unique and improved materials that cannot be prepared under normal earth conditions or in space. Through a combination of experiments and theory, we are gaining an understanding of centrifugation on phenomena of importance to materials processing. We find that it is necessary to consider not only acceleration, but also the Corio lis effect and the variation of acceleration with position. As one consequence, the vigor of buoyancy-driven convection is sometimes increased by centrifugation and sometimes decreased. Similarly, the tendency of the convection to become unstable or oscillatory may either be increased or decreased by centrifugation. On the other hand, the observed effects of centrifugation on product quality have largely gone unexplained. This volume constitutes the proceedings of The Second International Workshop on Materials Processing at High Gravity, hosted by Clarkson University in June of 1993. The concept for a workshop on materials processing in centrifuges was born at a series of informal meetings held in Paris in 1990. The First International Workshop on Materials Processing at High Gravity was held in May of 1991 in Dubna, USSR, on the banks of the Volga River. The proceedings of this workshop was published in 1992 as a special issue of the Journal of Crystal Growth.
