This document contains papers relative to the case of the State vs. William Hodge on the charge of horse stealing and range in date from April 4, 1799 to April 20, 1799. The first item is a sworn statement from the jailer of Hancock County (Georgia) testifying that he surrendered the prisoner, Hodge, to the sheriff of Greene County (Georgia). A number of signed statements follow that attest to the identity of the jailer. The second item is a sworn statement from two witnesses who testify that Hodge stole a horse from an Indian named Richard Fendleton. This second statement was given before three Justices of the Peace in Greene County (Georgia). These papers are related to two other documents also appearing in the Southeastern Native American Documents Database as documents tcc374 and tcc375 that are relevant to the Hodge cas.
