Book Description
Paul Blaisdell was the man behind the monsters in such movies as The She Creature, Invasion of the Saucer Men, Not of This Earth, It! Terror from Beyond Space and many others. Working in primarily low-budget films, Blaisdell was forced to rely on greasepaint, guts and, most importantly, an unbounded imagination for his creations. From his inauspicious beginning through The Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow (1959), the construction of Blaisdell's monsters and the making of the movies in which they appeared are fully detailed here. Blaisdell's work in the early monster magazines of the 1960s is also covered.

Book Description
A shaky truce. A pregnant Medusa. And a dedicated doctor who keeps legends alive.Even during a truce, I have my hands full as a MASH surgeon to an army of warring gods-especially when Medusa herself turns up pregnant. I frankly have no idea what to expect when a Gorgon's expecting, but I have an even bigger problem when my presumed-dead former-fiancé sneaks into my tent with enough emotional baggage to fill a tank. He's been fighting for the other side, which technically makes him my enemy, and now he needs me and the power I've kept secret for so long: I can see the dead. It's a blessing and a curse. Literally. Because the gods will smite me in a second if they suspect. But the other side is developing a terrible new weapon, and the only person who can stop the carnage was just murdered in a covert lab behind enemy lines. So I have no choice but to pull on my combat boots and go AWOL with my ex and a moody berserker to confront a ghost with a terrible secret. Too bad uncovering the truth could make me enemy #1?

Book Description
Ancient gods. Modern war. And a star-crossed couple who could use some divine intervention. The day I was drafted into the army of the gods, all I knew about being a MASH surgeon was what I’d learned from Hawkeye Pierce and Hot Lips Houlihan. Now here I am, Dr. Petra Robichaud, in the middle of an immortal war, assigned to a MASH camp with a nosy sphinx, a vegetarian werewolf, and an uptight vampire who really needs to get a life. At least they’re all too busy with their own dramas to discover my secret: I can see the dead. It’s a forbidden gift, one that can get me killed, so I haven’t told a soul. Until the arrestingly intense Galen arrives on my operating table, half-dead and totally to-die-for. When his spirit tries to slip out of his fatally wounded body, I impulsively slip it back in. Call it a rash resurrection. One I’ll live to regret. Now Commander Galen of Delphi knows my secret, and he’s convinced I’m part of an ancient prophecy—one that can end the war for good. But taking a chance could cost me everything. And it would be easier to convince him to leave me alone, except now the prophecies are starting to come true… Warning: This novel contains a hefty dose of danger, drama, practical jokes, pet swamp lizards, brooding demigods, adventure, romance, and heart—in a MASH camp where everybody knows your business. *The core of this book was originally called Immortally Yours, published by St. Martin's Press in 2012. The author has rewritten it into the way she always envisioned the story to be, which means it is now a romantic comedy instead of an angsty book. Oh, and there are a lot more pet swamp lizards, too.

Book Description
Like so many millions of other misguided people, I am a conditioned result of a celebrity-worshipping culture, systematically taught that fame and fortune are admirable goals and that celebrities are somehow superior beings, like gods, if you will. It has taken many years to expunge oneself from this false frivolity. Although many Halloweens have come and gone, I am finally cured of what today is labeled Celebrity Worship Syndrome. I believe that I'm not alone and I feel better. The following is not just another Hollywood Who's Who or Kiss and Tell book (with a couple of exceptions.) It is, however, peppered in part with an ample supply of sometimes meaningless and petty gossip; Now, my grandchildren and I can commiserate over whom Hillary Duff and Lindsay Lohan are dating. As is the propensity for certain current and former star-struck fools, like myself, to spew forth tales of meetings with famous people, just so, I have chosen to believe that these writings simply screamed out for ubiquitously shameless namedropping, thus, I giggled and gave in, while fully realizing than no one under forty will recognize half of the names mentioned (other than the two aforementioned). Anyway, Viva Hollywood! This memoir might be viewed as a personal record of one man's almost (in the Buddhist sense of not fully awakened) human encounter with the banal and the divine.

Book Description
Demon slaying powers should come with an instruction book. Seriously. Why does a new hair dryer have a twelve-page how-to manual, but when it comes to ancient demon-fighting magic, my biker witch grandma just gives me half a dozen switch stars and a rah-rah speech? Oh, and a talking terrier, but that's another story. It's not like my job as a preschool teacher prepared me for this kind of thing. So I've decided to write my own manual, The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers. Because—frankly—I need all the help I can get. Dimitri, my "protector," may be one stud of a shape-shifting griffin, but he’s no match for the soul-stealing succubi taking over Las Vegas. My biker witch friends are being corrupted from the inside. And if I can't figure out how to save my guy, my friends—and Sin City—there'll be hell to pay.

Book Description
From New York Times bestselling author Angie Fox Just because she can see the dead doesn’t mean Verity Long wants to spend her days hunting ghosts. Instead, she’s over the moon to land a marketing job at the local bank…until she finds her new boss dead in the vault. Even her ghost friend, Frankie, knows that's no way to start a career. Relieved to let the police take charge, Verity steps aside, bound and determined to keep her ghost sightings to herself. But when she learns the main suspect in the murder is a very crooked, very dead mobster, Verity knows it's up to her to solve the case. She teams up with her ghostly gangster buddy Frankie, as well as the irresistible and charming Ellis, as the three of them search haunted mob hideouts, hidden passageways, and historic cemeteries for the facts behind the heist of the century—and a modern-day motive for murder. Book Description
Exploring the phenomenon of Femslash fanfiction (fan narratives that bring together heterosexual female characters from mainstream media and fiction), this book analyses fan-authored works as forms of literature worthy of studying at length. It examines the anti-racist, feminist, sapphic fan works produced in response to white supremacist, heteronormative, queerbaiting mainstream fantasy and argues that they represent a significant site of queer healing for marginalised audience members. Focusing on the 'Swan Queen' fandom, where fans pair the 'white trash' heroine, Emma Swan and the villainous Latina Evil Queen (Regina Mills) from ABC's hit show Once Upon a Time, Alice Kelly redresses the widespread academic neglect of queer female fandoms and responds to urgent calls to diversify fan and fantasy scholarship. With reference to complex theoretical subjects such as ethnography, sociology, psychology and decolonial, queer, film and media studies, the book also delves into the alternative timescales on which queer female and genderqueer fan authorship runs; offers intriguing insights into fanfiction narrative structures; and tackles the issues of broader fandom representation and contextualization. Making the case that fan texts deserve attention in the academy, Kelly shows how some of the most prolific fan works have the ability to enact colour reparation and a reclamation of memory, fantasy, romance, maternity, childhood, parenting and magic. These fictions serve fan communities as a whole through intersectional challenges to the power dynamics of the source text and within the fandom itself and, as the book demonstrates, offer attendant validation to fantasy fans who have been repeatedly told that the genre is not for them.

Book Description
Role Models is a personal invitation into one of the most unique, perverse, and hilarious artistic minds of our time. From the incomparable John Waters, a paean to the power of subversive inspiration that will delight, amuse, enrich—and happily horrify readers everywhere. Role Models is, in fact, a self-portrait told through intimate profiles of favorite personalities—some famous, some unknown, some criminal, some surprisingly middle-of-the-road. From Esther Martin, owner of the scariest bar in Baltimore, to the playwright Tennessee Williams; from the atheist leader Madalyn Murray O'Hair to the insane martyr Saint Catherine of Siena; from the English novelist Denton Welch to the timelessly appealing singer Johnny Mathis—these are the extreme figures who helped the author form his own brand of neurotic happiness.
