Vince Brooks is an ambitious, aspiring student runner at West Rock High School. At the end of his freshman year, Vince has high hopes to capitalize on his first high school season. However, he has an uninspiring sophomore season, and fails to rebound in his junior cross-country season. Vince continuously tries to attain running success despite criticism from his peers and personal struggles. Don and Phyllis Munday are western Canada's most famous mountaineering couple.
