After 1865 the regiment continued as a National Guard Regiment until 1898 when again the country called for volunteers. The answer of Colonel Dufiy of the Sixty-ninth was that 100 per cent. Of his regiment volunteered. The Spanish American War ended quickly and again the regiment took its place in the National Guard.
