The primary design goal for the language has been to achieve exceptional program readability. A second goal has been to support the development of significant applications. ROSIE provides a variety of language and programming environment features aimed at this objective. The language allows the programmer to describe complex relationships simply and to manipulate them symbolically and deductively. ROSIE is a general-purpose language offering a variety of typical data types and control constructs found in most high-level languages, together with a few found only in AI languages. Among the features included are rulesets that generate sets, predicates that test propositions, propositional data types, and some limited forms of deduction.
