Book Description
In October 2003 the Museum of London Archaeology Service began an excavation at Prittlewell, south-east Essex. Prittlewell was a village with roots in the prehistoric past. The Anglo-Saxon cemetery there was already known, but it wasn't long before a burial had been found that increased its importance by a considerable degree. Grave goods include a gold belt buckle, a Byzantine silver spoon, an iron sword and a selection of vessels. The size of the grave and the richness of its associated objects make it perhaps the most important Anglo-Saxon burial since the discovery of Sutton Hoo in 1939.

Book Description
In 2003 archaeologists discovered an intact princely burial between busy Priory Crescent and the railway line near Priory Park in Prittlewell. A find of international significance, this is the richest and most important Anglo-Saxon burial found since the 1939 discovery of the great ship burial at Sutton Hoo in Suffolk. The lavishly furnished wooden chamber beneath a mound contained the coffin of a high-status man, evidently a Christian, who died at the end of the 6th century AD. The results of years of study of the excavated evidence are described and illustrated here to provide an account of the burial and the grave goods, and the information they give us about the East Saxon kingdom, where the man lived, and its contacts with Kent, Francia and the Christian Mediterranean.

Book Description
In 2003, the skeletal remains of some 1,300 individuals--men, women and children--were uncovered from Ballyhanna, near Ballyshannon in Co. Donegal. Radiocarbon dating indicates that the cemetery was in use for a prolonged period from the 7th to the 17th century. The remains of all individuals were the subject of detailed osteological and palaeopathological analysis. This book contextualizes the results of the research, including a wealth of information revealing the health, diet and lifestyle of the people buried at Ballyhanna. The analysis represents the first comprehensive study of a skeletal population from medieval Gaelic Ireland and provides detailed insights concerning the hitherto largely invisible lower class of Gaelic society.
