Book Description
Electroplating is the process of depositing a metal coating onto the surface of an object through the use of an electrical current. Electroplating has evolved into a highly complex process requiring a high level of precision and expertise. Phosphating is the process of converting a steel surface to iron phosphate. This is mostly used as a pretreatment method in conjunction with another method of corrosion protection. Powder coating is a finishing process in which a coating is applied electrostatically to a surface as a free-floating, dry powder before heat is used to finalize the coating. The powder can be made of any number of products: polyester, polyurethane, polyester-epoxy, straight epoxy, and acrylics. Metal finishing is the final step in the manufacturing process used to provide aesthetics and environmental protection. The electroplating market mostly is driven by the electronics and electrical industry and followed by the automotive industry. The demand for electroplating is rising rapidly from the end user industries which propel the growth of the market. The increasing demand for durable metals and growing use of adaptable manufacturing processes for a wide range of applications in the automotive, aerospace & defense, and electrical & electronics industries are likely to boost the demand for electroplating. With the growing demand for high-performance automobile components having excellent resistance to corrosion to enhance the appearance of exterior automobile parts, such as emblems, door handles, hood ornaments, and wheel rims, is driving the demand for electroplating and likely to continue owing to the increasing automobiles production in Asia-Pacific and other emerging economies in the Middle East & Africa. The zinc-nickel electroplating is one of the popular methods of electroplating in the automotive industry. The book cover various aspects related to different Electroplating, Phosphating, Powder Coating and Metal Finishing with their manufacturing process and also provides contact details of machinery suppliers with equipment photographs and plant layout. A total guide to manufacturing and entrepreneurial success in one of today’s complete process of electroplating to metal finishing in industry. This book is one-stop guide to one of the fastest growing electroplating, phosphating, powder coating and metal finishing industry, where opportunities abound for manufacturers, retailers, and entrepreneurs. The book serves up a feast of how-to information, from concept to purchasing equipment.

Book Description
Principles of Metal Surface Treatment and Protection deals with the principles of metal surface treatment and protection. Topics covered range from electrodeposition and hot dip coating to diffusion and non-metallic coatings, as well as oxide and conversion coatings. The theory of corrosion protection is also discussed. Comprised of eight chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the corrosion of metals and the scope of protection against corrosion, followed by a detailed treatment of electrodeposition. The discussion then turns to the principles of hot dipping as a coating method; the formation of a diffusion coating; and the role of a non-metallic coating in corrosion protection. Subsequent chapters focus on the protection of oxide films against corrosion by means of anodizing, phosphatizing, and the use of tin free steel; testing and selection of a particular coating for corrosion resistance applications; and the theory of corrosion protection. This book is intended for metal-finishing scientists and students of metallurgy and metal finishing.

Book Description
Chemically Bonded Phosphate Ceramics brings together the latest developments in chemically bonded phosphate ceramics (CBPCs), including several novel ceramics, from US Federal Laboratories such as Argonne, Oak Ridge, and Brookhaven National Laboratories, as well as Russian and Ukrainian nuclear institutes. Coupled with further advances in their use as biomaterials, these materials have found uses in diverse fields in recent years. Applications range from advanced structural materials to corrosion and fire protection coatings, oil-well cements, stabilization and encapsulation of hazardous and radioactive waste, nuclear radiation shielding materials, and products designed for safe storage of nuclear materials. Such developments call for a single source to cover their science and applications. This book is a unique and comprehensive source to fulfil that need. In the second edition, the author covers the latest developments in nuclear waste containment and introduces new products and applications in areas such as biomedical implants, cements and coatings used in oil-well and other petrochemical applications, and flame-retardant anti-corrosion coatings. Explores the key applications of CBPCs including nuclear waste storage, oil-well cements, anticorrosion coatings and biomedical implants Demystifies the chemistry, processes and production methods of CBPCs Draws on 40 years of developments and applications in the field, including the latest developments from USA, Europe, Ukraine, Russia, China and India

Book Description
Corrosion is an expensive and potentially dangerous problem in many industries. The potential application of different nanostructured materials in corrosion protection, prevention and control is a subject of increasing interest. Corrosion protection and control using nanomaterials explores the potential use of nanotechnology in corrosion control. The book is divided into two parts. Part one looks at the fundamentals of corrosion behaviour and the manufacture of nanocrystalline materials. Chapters discuss the impact of nanotechnology in reducing corrosion cost, and investigate the influence of various factors including thermodynamics, kinetics and grain size on the corrosion behaviour of nanocrystalline materials. There are also chapters on electrodeposition and the corrosion behaviour of electrodeposited nanocrystalline materials. Part two provides a series of case studies of applications of nanomaterials in corrosion control. Chapters review oxidation protection using nanocrystalline structures at various temperatures, sol- gel and self-healing nanocoatings and the use of nanoreservoirs and polymer nanocomposites in corrosion control. With its distinguished editors and international team of expert contributors, Corrosion protection and control using nanomaterials is an invaluable reference tool for researchers and engineers working with nanomaterials in a variety of industries including, aerospace, automotive and chemical engineering as well as academics studying the unique protection and control offered by nanomaterials against corrosion. - Explores the potential use of nanotechnology and nanomaterials for corrosion prevention, protection and control - Discusses the impact of nanotechnology in reducing corrosion cost and investigates various factors on the corrosion behaviour of nanocrystalline materials - Provides a series of case studies and applications of nanomaterials for corrosion control
