Daniel Stedman was born 25 April 1787 in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. His parents were Daniel McCoon Stedman (1766-1806) and Martha Braman (1768-1841). He married Freelove Reynolds (d. 1831), daughter of James Reynolds and Rachel Peckham, 22 December 1808. They had nine children. He also married Ann C. Fowler and Alice Potter Sheldon. He died 10 January 1859.
