Book Description
In December 1985 I received a telephone call from Christie's in Amsterdam. Michael Hatcher had found a new ship with over 150,000 pieces of porcelain. Most of it was already in Amsterdam for an auction in '86. My acquaintance with Htcher datesback to 1984. At that time there was an auction at Christie's of mid-17th century porcelain, which Hatcher had recovered from the wreck of a Chinese junk. But if this fins had really come from a Dutch ship, then which East Indiaman could it be? The most obvious candidate was the Geldermalsen, which had sunk on her homeward voyage in 1752.--Preface.

Originally published in 1940, this is Carl Crow’s entertaining autobiography, the story of his more than 25 years of adventures and success in Shanghai during the tumultuous early decades of the 20th century. This book is a tale of East meets West set in the wild and heady days of inter-war China. It is an account of how two cultures clashed, bickering over business deals and social norms as they tried to find a way to live with each other.

Book Description
Treasures of the Deep is the enthralling and true story of one-time Barnardo's boy Captain Mike Hatcher and his life scouring the seven seas for sunken treasure. From humble beginnings Hatcher has gone on to become the most celebrated ocean salvor of modern times. He has raised countless precious cargoes from such exotic locations as Indonesia and Thailand, and in many ways has lived a charmed life. But he has also witnessed first hand the tragedy of war-torn Vietnam and post-Khmer Rouge Cambodia, and has periodically incurred the wrath of south-east Asian governments, marine archaeologists and unscrupulous competitors. His story is one of guts and determination in the face of adversity, and of daring, skill and fantastic rewards. Book jacket.
