He married Maria Christina Friedericke Duckwitz in 1855, and they immigrated about 1860 to New York. There a girl, their third child, was born and buried. They then moved to settle in Bethlehem, Effingham County, Illinois. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, Texas, Hawaii and elsewhere. Includes ancestry and genealogical data in Germany to about 1705.
